UFO Appears to Explode in China
13-Dec-2004

UPDATE: 12/13/04 0900 Pacific: Xinhua News Agency reports that witnesses saw a strange, shining object cross the sky at 11:36 PM Saturday night, followed by tremendous booms. Over 700 witnesses have reported seeing the phenomenon. Police are searching for debris in the area where it fell. The earth trembled across a 70 square mile area around the western Chinese city of Lanzhou, suggesting an impact with the ground. But so far, nothing has been found.

Shortly before midnight on Saturday night, two red trails of light passed over Lanzhou in western China. Suddenly, a suburban area of the city was lit up as bright as day and a tremendous explosion shook the area, and people felt as if an earthquake had struck.

Police investigating the phenomenon found no evidence of a meteor, or indeed of any form of debris in the area.

Unlike the US, China takes UFO research seriously.

It is possible, of course, that this was an ordinary meteor.

In recent months, there have been numerous reports of heavy UFO activity in western China and parts of India.
