UFO Show Over a Missile Base

In another in our new series of Communion Letters, we present the story of Corbett, who writes: In 1984 I moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, which is near White Sands Missile range. I lived there for four years. Some of the research for President Reagan's Star Wars technology was being done at White Sands and if you watched the sky you could see some very strange, interesting "light shows." I didn't notice anything until 1987 when Mary Ann, a woman I was acquainted with, told me there was a place behind the university where you could see UFOs flying around.

I went with her one night, taking my kids along. We sat on a hill looking towards the mountains between Las Cruces and White Sands Missile range, and saw some stars that turned out not to be stars. They moved around the sky in triangular formations. Sometimes they would form a pyramid shape in the sky and stop, and light would shoot back and forth between them.

About a month later, I put the kids to bed and went to bed myself. I soon became so sleepy I couldn't keep my eyes open so I turned the light out. Suddenly my room was filled with light and I thought I had overslept. I jumped out of bed, then realized that it was still dark. I tried to think of where the light had come from and looked out the window at the dirt road, expecting to see a car, but nothing was there. The moon was full and there was a star near it. Then I noticed that the star zipped across the sky and two more joined it. They gave me another show, similar to the one I had seen before. Then all but one of them zipped off and that one came very close, becoming huge. It looked like a sphere with different colored lights spinning around it. It hovered for a few seconds, then shot out a white beam of light with brighter spirals of light inside it. The spirals gave the impression of a spinning motion.

For years after that, I did not sleep well. I would wake up, needing to make sure the house was secure. Also, my 4-year-old suddenly had to have a light on to sleep. Shes 21 now and still sleeps with a light on. I took the girls to the bookstore about once a month. When Communion came out, I saw it in the front of the store and decided I would buy it because of the picture on the front, which seemed very familiar. When I picked it up to read the back cover I was overwhelmed with fear. I put the book back.

In 1988 I moved to Texas. In 1989, while waiting in a checkout line at Walmart, a book fell into my cart. I picked it up and saw that it was Communion. I decided to buy it, but before I got there, I again put it back. The fear I was feeling was too much. Finally, a few months later, I was at the library looking for a book to read and a book fell at my feet from the top shelf. It was Communion. I checked it out and was only able to read to the middle before I couldn't stand the fear (the part where Whitley describes hearing someone screaming in the middle of the night was too much for me, because I experienced that also). Some of the stuff seemed very familiar though I have not had missing time or found myself someplace else without remembering how I got there.

I finally read the rest of the book and was amazed to find I was in fear of being abducted and controlled, something I am sure has never happened to me. I have no idea where that fear came from. I am curious about the picture on Communion and why so may people feel they know that being.
