Anne's Diary

Blue Pills, Blue Beads…and Seeing the Visitors

In my last diary, I talked about the color green. This time, I want to talk about blue—or rather, blue pills and other things blue.

As you can imagine, I take many pills and supplements and in many different colors. A few of them fall on the carpet at times—well, a lot do! (Whitley is efficient, but clumsy. Since I have lost most of my left visual field, I’m no help, either.)

As a result of this combination of factors, I almost had a “Tim Leary” moment the other day.

One of the pills I take is small and blue. I also had on a stretchy blue beaded bracelet, which the friend who gave it to me said had been blessed by a guru she thought a powerful healer. The bracelet broke, the beads fell off, and I glanced down and saw one of them, which was blue. It looked just like my little blue blood pressure pill, so I picked it up and got ready to take it.

Then I realized that it wasn’t a pill at all, but one of the bracelet’s beads. At the last moment, I realized what it was and decided not to take it.
In other words, a close call.

For a moment, that bead looked exactly like the pill to me. I reflected that we so often don’t fully realize what we are seeing—something that very much reminds me of our relationship with the visitors. Are they here, or are they resident in our imaginations—or is that the same thing? Or can only some people see them?

Before we accept something, we need to look at it very clearly.

This happens a lot to me. Sometimes I wonder if I will get to the point when I don't discern the difference. I suppose we all/many of us wonder that as we age. I think that is one of the trickiest things about growing older -- one is constantly having to adjust one's procedures because of any number of physical/mental changes in one's life. Thanks for the diary, Anne :)

A simple but powerful and important point Anne!

Love your story Anne! Especially..."before we accept something. we need to look at it very clearly." Would it always be so or possible! B
