I dreamed of Emerald colored geese
and a wave of emerald colored substance
in the water and from music and green
color thoughts I let the train carry me.

Yes Emerald City is the end of the Yellow Brick Road. But why did Frank Baum name it that?
I hear the music from Somewhere in Time and am
drawn to the Hotel del Coronado. Then I found this:

L. Frank Baum, author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, did much of his writing at the hotel, and is said to have based his design for the Emerald City.

I wonder why the green geese and the subject of
emerald green won't leave me alone.

Then I am drawn to the subject of Emerald Tablet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerald_Tablet

Does anyone have any ideas why this subject
wants attention?

Gail:

This page discusses both emeralds and geese. Not sure if it has any value, but it came up when I Googled the words together:

Mark,

I couldn't see anything about the emerald
color on the page. Actually the color of the
birds (2 of them) was what was so astonishing. Completely emerald color, shimmering and golden beaks. They could have been swans but I thought geese because of my Goose, Stanley that I talk about all the time. Stanley has been with me for years and he lost his mate in Katrina and is mentally unusual in that he tries to raise the duck babies and helps the mama ducks that are without mates to raise their babies. Once he tried to mate up with a white duck that he mistook for a goose. I named her Blanche and they were a couple for years til she left him. That's besides the point tho, isn't it?

The point is I saw the emerald substance in the churned up water and it was the consistency of paint. I thought it had colored the water birds. They really were wanting me to understand or I wouldn't b e carrying on so about this situation. I take visions seriously. I always have. The color is whats speaking to me. Now I wonder why I was shown the Emerald tablet. Jung was interested in it as well. Thank you for indulging me.This has to run it's course.

Gail

Hi, Gail:

The technique I have sometimes used, which I learned from that guy named Tony I mentioned a while ago, is to repeat each of the major words in the dream. Then write down the first thing that comes into your mind. Then do the same thing with those new words (from the word association). You can keep on repeating the exercise - getting deeper and deeper with each go around.

I wish I remembered more of my dreams. Here is the quote on emerald on the page:
-----
"THE PEACOCK made complaint to Juno that, while the nightingale pleased every ear with his song, he himself no sooner opened his mouth than he became a laughingstock to all who heard him. The Goddess, to console him, said, 'But you far excel in beauty and in size. The splendor of the emerald shines in your neck and you unfold a tail gorgeous with painted plumage.' "But for what purpose have I,' said the bird, 'this dumb beauty so long as I am surpassed in song?' 'The lot of each,' replied Juno, "has been assigned by the will of the Fates--to thee, beauty; to the eagle, strength; to the nightingale, song; to the raven, favorable, and to the crow, unfavorable auguries. These are all contented with the endowments allotted to them."

Thanks Mark. I identify sometimes with nightingale. I don't have a sister only a
cousin that I grew up with. I wrote this for her.

Cousins

Cousins born only a month apart.
You're what I would be if I was - but I'm not.

I write my poems - you spread your love.
The Nightingale - the Peaceful Dove.

I am what I am - you do what you do.
I couldn't be me if it weren't for you.

Okay...back to my pondering. I'll try the
technique.

Thank you all for kind thoughts.

Mark,
I bookmarked your poems
and will get to them in
the wee small hours of the morning.

I love the quiet time. I never have radio
or TV or any sound unless I choose to. I feel
the silence is a gift that I can be in at will
and I love it. Background noise of any kind
interferes with my comfort. I make time to listen to things and play my music. There's only
so many hours in the day and I'm grateful that now I have a choice of how to spend them.

Love to all.

I love the quiet too. And nature sounds as well.

Don't care for people who always have to be talking, motor cycles going by at night, chain saws etc.

I know what you mean by spending the hours the way you choose.

@ Sharon.

Back to the Emerald thought. I thought
maybe it had run it's course but this happened.
When I woke today I went straight to the bay window to check the canal. No pelican, herons, ducks or egrets...no one but Stanley. He was swimming circles and looking at me. Then I had a mental vision of me in my pond fantasy. I like to lay back on my malachite bench and have ole Gar swim circles around me. Malachite looks a bit like emerald and I am partial to it. When I blinked my eyes to delete the vision Stanley swam away and a real life Gar jumped up from a spiral...I almost fainted. I still wonder about the Emerald Tablet but the real life wonders mean more to me. I like to figure my mysteries.

So later I decided to play piano
and chose Clair de Lune. When I finished
I thought of this Rumi poetry that I have
posted so many times. I love to listen to
Cole Barks read Rumi because he has the
southern accent that reminds me of my Brother and
Daddy.

I often had/have dreams about emerald coloured stone pyramids. As if they are made out of faintly white-veined emerald coloured marble. Sometimes I go in them and there are like black flame torches burning, and LAM-looking (like greys but slightly more humanoid) creatures in robes that want to communicate.

I know what you mean Mark. I haven't written
much since Katrina. You can't force inspiration.

Still reflecting on the Emerald dream and the only thing was the smell of Emeraude perfume
that I used to love. Silly stuff yet I don't deny the senses.

It is more the medium. I wrote those poems before I knew how to articulate the ideas well in prose. However, I may try poetry again.

This vision wants to be here instead of
the dream section because it may be a tag onto the Emerald thought.

~~~
I was looking at my canal when all of a sudden I was sitting by Bayou St. John over in the city
where I used to spend so much time. A tremendous
bird landed..huge wing span...it wasn't Mr. Blue...bigger and greenish...serious mystical magic like...Stanley got bold and licked the magical bird in places and I was embarrassed cause I knew he was a mind to mate it. I felt it
was wrong to stop him but the vision had me back across the lake to my canal. The water was rough with waves by the time I deleted the vision. Small dragonflies flew with me to the veranda.
I thought of Miriam in the bulrushes.
Mark, I'm actually pretty out of touch, as well. VERY selective with what little TV I watch, as well as movies.
I recommend "Life of Pi", if you have not seen it. It is a stunningly beautiful film!
If you haven't seen it, and decide to do so, I STRONGLY recommend that you not do much reading up on it, so as not to read "spoilers". I was so glad that I avoided reading spoilers before I saw it.
I still cannot even watch the trailer without being brought to tears!
Mama, the last time I went to the movie theatre was in 2008, to see "The X-Files: I Want to Believe". It was such a huge disappointment, that it was certainly NOT worth having braved the theatre experience.
I cannot eat popcorn any more, even though I LOVE it, so I didn't even have that.
Luckily, I went on a weekday, and there were only about 15 people in the theatre, so that was a relief.
But again, it was a waste of energy and money, and a big disappointment.
I really would have liked to have seen "Life of Pi" on the big screen, but when it ran here (around Thanksgiving last year), I was sick as a dog with the flu.
I do still watch some TV. I have several faves on Showtime, several of which are ending. There are 3 shows on regular channels that I watch and really enjoy. I miss them when they are in the "off" season. Two will begin again in early 2014.
And, I watch a LOT of stuff on HGTV and DIY, and sometimes, concerts on VH1 Classic.
That sounds like a lot of TV, but it's really not, given that the series shows I like don't run all the time.
Anyway, Mama, I'm sorry I derailed your thread. It started out with just me free-associating on "green". Green is my favorite color, and everything reminds me of a song.
I do want to tell you, for what it's worth, that ever since you first posted about your green water film and green goose dream, I have repeatedly been thinking about the oil spill.
In fact, I don't actually remember dreaming this, but one morning a couple or 3 or 5 mornings ago, when I woke up with the idea in my mind that your dream was an example of how you always try to look at things (even oil spills) from some kind of positive angle.
Just my musings.
Again, sorry to derail. Thank YOU for putting up with ME.
I'll admit I did think of the oil spill
Mama, thank you for giving some credence and a sort of validation to my thoughts about the spill, and the beautiful quality you have of looking for the Pony in any pile of stuff!
And thank you for such a sweet compliment! I feel the same about you.
Buddie! YAY! We posted the same Gordon Song!
I love him so much. After all these years, he can still give me goose bumps, make me smile and make me cry!
Yes, we have good taste!
Need to post this quickly before the dream/vision fades:
I was maintaining an emerald colored
green carpet like a large area or something.
It had to be kept clean like dusted or vacuumed.
A male worked with me and he spoke with an accent
(not sure what language). I don't know what the area was... a woman called and said she had
an unusual item that she wished we would display.
She said she made it from what she saw. It looked like the Madonna all in white.She said she wanted to construct what she saw and talked to after the visitation ended. She used a fabric or napkin that was very thin to form the Madonna. I was amazed as I picked it up and I felt the delicate bones under the robe. I wondered what the woman used...were they toth picks or thin twiggs from a broom. I took the
creation the the emerald carpet and showed my male assistant and told him to be careful not to crush this beautiful sculpture. He said he'd spray it with a thin varnish and I cried ..NO, the essence of the original feel and love in making it will be made stiff. He said it wouldn't. I woke up I wonder what happened. I'll ponder but I have company coming and must get off the computer.
The greatest thing you'll ever learn
Is just to love and be loved in return.
