|Strangest Experience:||I am not sure exactly how old I was, but I do know I was at least six, but no more than eight years old. I know I could read by then because when this experience began I was reading a book from school in bed before going to sleep.
I don’t really know what drew me to the window, but I got out of bed and sat at the foot of my brother’s bed. He was a year younger than me and asleep. I had to sit there because that is where the window was.
When I looked outside, I saw a man in silhouette standing inside our front yard fence. In my memory I thought that the window was very low to the ground because he was in line with my forward vision. (I have since visited the house and that is not the case – the window is approximately four to five feet from the ground. This makes the man very tall!) He was in profile to me, but all I could see was that he was wearing a long trench-coat type thing, and a hat. I couldn’t see his face. I thought he was smoking because I saw a small red light near his mouth/face area. I thought it was my Dad, because he worked night shift back then and I thought he was standing in the garden having a smoke before he left (he never did that – always smoked in the car, house etc). In the background I think I could hear some kind of low grade chatter sound, but then I distinctly recall a buzzing sound like an electric razor.
The man turned towards me, but I still didn’t see a face and I wasn’t scared at all at this point. What I was focussed on was the little red light which I now saw was attached to a small black box about the size of a small transistor radio. The buzzing was coming from it, I knew. The man stood there for a bit holding the box. My attention went completely away from him as I focussed on the box.
As I watched, the box and light began to float towards me and I was just sitting there fascinated. My reaction was like – WOW! That box is floating. But it got closer and closer to the window, and the noise got louder and louder too. Suddenly I was overwhelmed with panic…the noise was LOUD, and I could see the box was coming to get me. I KNEW it was going to come right through the window glass….just as it was about to hit the window my memory ends.
I was in my bed the next morning. I told my parents about it, which they dismissed as a dream, but to this day I know it was not a dream. Although the memory of it now has a dream like feel to it, I still think that it was a real experience.
Looking back I would say that he was there for me in particular as my brothers slept on unaware (one brother was in a crib).
