Rollin in a keg of Black Butte Porter while munching on a liverwurst and cheese on dark sweet wheat bread with mustard and home grown cherry tomatoes. Insomnia sucks!! But Porter and liverwurst rule.. |

Howdy, all. Think I have my ISP problem solved. I am the eternal optimist!? It's Sept 17 and still hot as hell. I keep hoping it will cool down some. We still have two months left in H. season, but as long as the storms stay away I guess I'll have to be content. What are you guys doing? Who's cold, who's hot? Snacks, dinner & drinks are on me. Everybody chow down and let's get some chatter going. I've been gone so long I'm starving for conversation with all you "weird" people. Too much contact with the "non-believers" makes me feel even more weird than usual. Love you folks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Inside every older person is a younger person... wondering what the hell happened!? Hi Moonhowler, Nice to see you! 80 here today and cold at night, down in the low 40's.Had a little rain couple of days ago, but not enough for the heat wave starting to hit us. Fire alerts are in place. Let's roll out the Hooka for those of us with finicky appetites and then chow down. |

Just peekin' in to see what's happenin'. Not much going on round here. Times are just getting harder and harder. When will it end? I'm a year older now. No big deal. Havin' a birthday just ain't the same as it used to be. Don't really look forward to them, just means I'm one more year closer to croakin' off. Could be today, tomorrow or even 10 years from now. Think we'll be around as a civilization in 10 years? I mean a civilization where people treat each other decently? We don't do that now, so what about 10 years down the road? I'm going to bed. Best not to think on it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Inside every older person is a younger person... wondering what the hell happened!? nice to see you moon. hard to say really. I can remember fondly 10 years ago when I figured it'd be less than ten years until the "end times" hehe...i really believed it too. I'd say, tenatively, yes we will still be here as a civilization, we will continue to devolve socially as the economy deadens to a crawl, until ultimately, mighty wars will break out between the have's and have nots...with many lives being lost that didn't need to be in a blooody series of civil battles instigated by the usual suspects, who will no doubt be hiding in some caves or underground bunkers during that period. Not to mention ever increasing earth changes of who-knows-what caliber. I don't believe the aliens will save us. Maybe a handful or something, hard to say. Will this site still be here in ten years? I would like to think so...besides, what else would fort do if not come on here and associate with the only friends he has? A scary thing to consider. "I watch how the moon sits in the sky on a dark night, shining with the light from the sun, but the sun doesnt give the light to the moon, assuming the moon's gonna owe it one..."

I have happy tales to tell, thanks to friends, I've been taste testing some fine sweet samples of fall harvest that have come trickling my way. It's a difficult job, but somebody has to do it. I'm dreaming of a green winter. And a affordable slightly used gas hot water heater. Putting up the hoses and dragging out the tarps for another long winter. |

The Inexpressible One The One rules all. Nothing has authority over it. It is the God. It is Father of everything, Holy One The invisible one over everything. It is uncontaminated Pure light no eye can bear to look within. The One is the Invisible Spirit. It is not right to think of it as a God or as like God. It is more than just God. Nothing is above it. Nothing rules it. Since everything exists within it It does not exist within anything. Since it is not dependent on anything It is eternal. It is absolutely complete and so needs nothing. It is utterly perfect Light. The One is without boundaries Nothing exists outside of it to border it The One cannot be investigated Nothing exists apart from it to investigate it The One cannot be measured Nothing exists external to it to measure it The One cannot be seen For no one can envision it The One is eternal For it exists forever The One is inconceivable For no one can comprehend it The One is indescribable For no one can put any words to it. The One is infinite light Purity Holiness Stainless The One is incomprehensible Perfectly free from corruption. Not “perfect” Not “blessed” Not “divine” But superior to such concepts. Neither physical nor unphysical Neither immense nor infinitesimal It is impossible to specify in quantity or quality For it is beyond knowledge. The One is not a being among other beings It is vastly superior But it is not “superior.” It is outside of realms of being and time For whatever is within realms of being was created And whatever is within time had time allotted to it The One receives nothing from anything. It simply apprehends itself in its own perfect light The One is majestic. The One is measureless majesty Chief of all Realms Producing all realms Light Producing light Life Producing life Blessedness Producing blessedness Knowledge Producing knowledge Good Producing goodness Mercy Producing mercy Generous Producing generosity It gives forth light beyond measure, beyond comprehension. His realm is eternal, peaceful, silent, resting, before everything. He is the head of every realm sustaining each of them through goodness. 4 The Way is a void; Used but never filled: An abyss it is, Like an ancestor From which all things come. It blunts sharpness, Resolves tangles; It tempers light, Subdues turmoil. A deep pool it is, Never to run dry! Whose offspring it may be I do not know: It is like a preface to God. - Tao Te Ching |

Spoiler Alert...this is a punchline to a joke. A few minutes later, another cowboy struts into the bar and announces, "Who owns that big white horse outside?" The Lone Ranger stands again and claims, "I do. What is wrong with him this time?" The cowboy says to him, "Nothing much, I just wanted you to know............ you left your Injun running!!!" "The coach (John McKay) stopped talking to us after the third game," defensive lineman Pat Toomay told the Columbus Dispatch in 2001. "During the week, he wanted nothing to do with us. since this thread was officially started for insomnia and i have had it recently and hopefully not tonight i thought i would share. it has been uncomfortable to say the least! i have always been a good sleeper that always sleeps, like too much. that couldnt get up early. then recently like past few months i have been able to get up early easier but still sleep pretty well even if i would wake up. that preface over, the past week, and i have had some back pain and joint pain but before this i could sleep anyway, I have been falling asleep like normal, you know normal day, normal work etc, get home very tired so fall asleep what would have been early for me compared to college, being like falling asleep between 1030 and 1130. But -every- single night from like saturday or sunday the 11th or 12th, until the 17th although i would fall asleep fine, i kept waking up! It would almost always be after only like 3 hours of sleep, so i would wake up usually like 3 or 4 am since i take awhile to actually fall asleep. Then for the life of me i cant fall back asleep >_< and if i do its only like an hour and then it happens again and then i really cant fall asleep. Part of it was feeling uncomfortable from back pain but not in a certain position, so there really is no reason for it. Just thought id share cuz i have been having a lot of 'wasted' time from like 3 or 4am to 8am feeling like crap and i wish i knew why. i dont think im worried about anything and my back pain isn't bad enough to keep me up just annoying enough to keep me from falling asleep on occasion. its just like i was restless too and because i was so tired during work the next day like horribly yet still mentally very awake its a weird combination. yet also frustrating. part of me thinks maybe its because i have been sleeping most of my life now something wants me to have more awake time. like this 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night has become the norm the past week and i dont know if i like it. anyone else have this? i heard its called 'terminal insomnia' meaning waking up too early. gah! >_< last night it was the worst its ever been in terms of wake ups, but best in terms of hours fo sleep since it started. i fell asleep at 11pm, and i wake up and look at the clock. and my heart sinks because its only midnight. then my back starts feeling 'restless'/pained and so i bounce it up and down frustratingly crying out in anger and anguish. part of the frustration is cuz i took a ibuprofen which got rid of the back pain yet i still woke up. why? and why did it only work for an hour? Then I cant fall asleep so i go take a salt water bath which lets me fall asleep from 1 to 6 which i really needed. yet part of me feels like its not enough. the other part thinks its just cuz im entering a more 'advanced' life stage and its new so its not going away but i need to get used to it. sorry this is so long but sleep is very important to me as is feeling 'myself' and i dont! part of the weirdness is today at work feeling like the 'screen' or 'veil' of life in my visual field was moving ilke a curtain. but not feeling tired or sleep deprived per say, just not 'optimal' and also having other weird visual things like things flowing for a second. but only today and only twice for extremely short times hmmmm thanks for reading hope you can add something helpful or useful. Observation convinces me that there are beings of intelligence higher than human and that the only chance for mankind to advance as a whole is for individuals to make contact with such Beings.Crowley

Morning sahgwa.. in my case I'm certain its not because I'm entering a more advanced life cycle .. my sleep has I think always been erratic but it came to a head when I started waking up at 3 or 3:30 now I can sleep until 4:30 I long ago stopped worrying about it but I do sleep with a small light on.. Heck I can sleep with a 100 watter on! I wake up slowly so an hours can pass while I'm up watching TV then have my cup of coffee feed the cat ..whos now on my schedule then I start getting ready for work do a few chores then visit UC etc.. one thing I don't do is stay in bed..I can't bear that feeling..and it dosen't matter the time I fall asleep I will still be awake between 3 and 4:30 .. if you have a yard or a balcony go outside its lovely and quiet in those hours.. However you may have a medical reason? I hope you don't because you will eventually adjust to the hours.. so anyway you certainly are welcome in here where long posts used to be the norm.. sahgwa, I feel your pain and sleep deprivation.....LITERALLY. Chronic pain, and the inevitable loss of sleep, is like water torture, and people who do NOT suffer from long-term chronic pain, cannot understand. Then, add to the pain issues, any "other" issues that might play a part, and getting good sleep, or functioning on a "normal" schedule becomes almost impossible. Chronic pain and sleep deprivation are good examples of the old "chicken or egg" syndrome.......and they definitely create a vicious cycle. Soft hugs! "In the end, only kindness matters."

thank you second wind and buddie! i was lucky enough to be off work today so rather than cumulatively get less and less sleep i finally was able to sleep 8 hours total last night. that's only cuz i was able to go back to sleep the third time i woke up from 5 to 9. So part of the problem is having to work ha i think i might have figured out the main cause of my problem besides the pain, which i thought was sinus problems seems to be this thing called LPR or laryngophyrngeal reflux http://heartburn.about.com/od/gastrictractdisorders/a/whatis_LPR.htm. I had problems sleeping before also because i wasn't getting enough air. It seems the constant throat clearing and spitting up crap is from this acid problem which I didn't realise cuz i didn't have 'heartburn' . The oesophagus and pharynx coats itself with mucous which can go up and even block the sinus and its also your main air tube so yeah. as soon as i took antacids two times in 6 or 8 hours it went down a lot for the first time in a year. if only i had found that earlier. as for the back i will just have to start doing more exercise and stretches. i was on medication for joint pain and it masked a lot of symptoms. now that i am almost off said medication the symptoms are actually noticeable and thus causing sleep problems but in a way its good so i can fix them. ah being in a human body is fun is it not! thanks for all your support ((**all**)) thats hugs Observation convinces me that there are beings of intelligence higher than human and that the only chance for mankind to advance as a whole is for individuals to make contact with such Beings.Crowley

It is about that sahgwa..stress really kills all the pleasurable stuff..so you have to find what works for you..if I can't fall asleep I always do my virtual walk by the ocean..that one always does it! I awoke this morning really early and said I don't have to worry its Saturday so I got up and fed the cat.. but as the 5 minute fog cleared I checked the TV.. I knew something didn't feel right.. so I worked 1/2 a day since its Saturday |

A 10-year-old Canadian girl will head back to school this month with a good case for some extra credit in science: She became the youngest person to discover a supernova during the holiday break. Kathryn Aurora Gray of Fredericton, New Brunswick, spotted the exploding star, dubbed supernova 2010lt, on Monday from an image taken on New Year’s Eve by a telescope belonging to amateur astronomer David Lane in Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia. The exploding star is in the galaxy UGC 3378 in the constellation of Camelopardalis. The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) says Kathryn is the youngest person ever to discover a supernova. "This gets me to a question that returns to my mind practically every day of my life: what are the visitors?" Whitley Strieber
