And about that election last night......

I really do WANT to believe in hope again.

But history is too hard to forget.

I know this has almost become "cliche'", but it is simply still too appropriate to resist:

New Boss, Old Boss, Same-Same

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they were all flown in the last war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
'Cause I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?

Yeah!

There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Eminence Front: It's A Put-On!

The sun shines and people forget
The spray flies as the speedboat glides, and people forget
Forget they're hiding

The girls smile and people forget
The snow packs as the skier tracks, and people forget
Forget they're hiding

Behind an eminence front
Eminence front, it's a put on
Eminence front
Eminence front, it's a put on
Eminence front
Eminence front, it's a put on,
Eminence front
Just an eminence front, it's a put on, it's a put on

Come and join The Party, dressed to kill
Won't you come and join Our Party, dressed to kill
Dressed to kill

Drinks flow, people forget
The big wheel spins, the hair thins, people forget,
They forget they're hiding
The news slows, people forget
The shares crash, hopes are dashed, people forget

eminence front
Hiding behind an eminence front, it's a put on
It's just an eminence front
An eminence front, it's a put on
An eminence front
An eminence front, it's a put on
Eminence front
It's an eminence front, it's a put on, it's a put on, it's a put on, it's a put on

Come and join The Party, dressed to
Come and join the party, dressed to
Come on join the party, dressed to
Come on join the party, dressed to kill
Dress yourself to kill

"In the end, only kindness matters."

And now, for something non-political, but still WHO.....from the very best who live album, we have just about the best, most unusual and most innovative (especially for the time) guitar solos EVER!!!!

I have two copies of the original version of this album on vinyl, one of which is actually an ORIGINAL 1970 copy.....with all the goodies that came inside, that one can no longer get.

I will never forget the first time I heard this album, and, in particular, this solo section, in 1970, tripping on Mescaline.

This music was HEAVY AND PROGRESSIVE!
It had me plastered to the back of the couch. It still does that to me to this day.....even without mind-altering substances!!

It was one of those from that time frame, that set the bar for Heavy Metal and Progressive Rock guitar.

Even so, The Who truly were/are in a class all by themselves!!!

Enjoy it! It's worth listening to ALL of it!

Live at Leeds

And, there has never been a better (or as good) version of Magic Bus, than on the Live at Leeds album.

This is from one of the later, remastered editions, and NOT from the original, so there are a few differences that I noticed. Like, at 1:18, the original backwards guitar has been replaced by a shorter guitar strumming! Still, it is KILLER! Heavy, indeed!

The lyrics were, um, slightly different from the "single" version of the song played on radio!!

Every day I get in the queue
To get on the bus that takes me to you

I don't care how much I pay
(too much, magic bus)
I wanna drive that bus to my baby some day
(too much, magic bus)
Yeah, the magic bus, magic bus

Thruppence and sixpence every day
(too much, magic bus)
Just to drive to my baby
(too much, magic bus)
Thruppence and sixpence each day
(too much, magic bus)
I drive my baby every way (too much, magic bus)

Magic Bus
(Give me a hundred)
Magic bus
(I won't take under)
Aieahhhh
(??????)

I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it ...

(You can't have it. Can't have it)

I don't care how much I pay
(too much, magic bus)
I wanna drive my bus to my baby each day
(too much, magic bus)
And I'll buy it.
I'll buy it.
I'll buy it.

(OK. You can have the magic bus for one hundred English pounds!)

NO! Too much!

(Give me a hundred!)

Ninety-five!

(I won't take under!)

Ninety-five!

(The Bus is Wonder(???) She got that thunder!)

Whoa, oh, now I've got my magic bus
Oh, now I've got my magic bus
I drive my baby every way
Each time I go a different way
I'm gonna ride her
Ride her
Ride her
Aieahhhhh!

Magic Bus!!!!

Magic Bus! Wow!

(Whew!!)

(Now, pay close attention after the song ends at right at 7:33 or :34, to hear that "Whew" said into the mic. I have always imagined it was Pete who said it, but who knows?)

History Repeats Itself

I've been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear

You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And there's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interests run

On the radio talk shows and the t.v.
You hear one thing again and again
How the u.s.a. stands for freedom
And we come to the aid of a friend

But who are the ones that we call our friends--
These governments killing their own?
Or the people who finally can't take any more
And they pick up a gun or a brick or a stone

There are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

There's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who fan the flames
Of the wars that are fought in places
Where we can't even say the names

They sell us the president the same way
They sell us our clothes and our cars
They sell us every thing from youth to religion
The same time they sell us our wars

I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die

And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire"

I am the one, your help Ive refused
Your offering hand just set off the fuse
I am the rock that pushes away
I gave up tomorrow to spite today

Too proud to beg
Too stubborn to try
Id look in your face
And spit in your eye

But Im willing to find whats really inside
And show I am strong enough to

Trust in you.
Trust in you.
Trust in you.
Pull me up
Quo modo shadow to light
Quo modo shadow to light
Quo modo pull me up
Pull me up
Cause I am ready

I am the one who blames only you
The flame in my eyes now blackens my view
I am the one who wanders alone
Darkness inside blocks how youve shone

Who tied the other
End of my rope?
I want to move on
I want to have hope

So Im willing to change
Im going to try
To show I am strong enough to
trust in you.

Its really snowing tonight :-)
The first Fall of Snow

The first fall of Snow
I talked with a stranger so sad and forlorn
His garments were sack cloth all tattered and torn
He told me a story of sorrow and woe
His heart went to heaven at the first fall of snow

He spoke of his angel a dear baby girl
He loved every footstep he loved every curl
But she went to heaven just one year ago
The angels came for her at the first fall of snow

He still have the dolly that she used to love
He held and caressed it and he gazed up above
He whispered my darling you're waiting I know
I'll bring you your dolly at the first fall of snow
[ fiddle ]
And there as I listened then my eyes filled with tears
I knew she was part of his happier years
His frail body trembled he spoke soft and low
I'll be with my darling at the first fall of snow

I just couldn't tell him how I felt inside
I patted his shoulder my feelings to hide
He smiled as we partred cause he didn't know
That we'd lost our darling at the first fall of snow...

All This Time Has Whittled Away
Like So Many Days In One
Back And Forth The Leaders Sway
Backing It Up With Guns
Superpowers Flex Their Wings
Hold The World On Puppet Strings
Egos Will Feed
While Citizens Bleed
That's Always The Way It Goes
When Will The World Listen To Reason
I've Got A Feeling It'll Be A Long Time
When Will The Truth Come In To Season
I've Got A Feeling It'll Be A Long Time
All They Want Is What They Can Defend
Before Their Time Is Up
Make The Same Mistakes Again
Heard It All Before
Superpowers Flex Their Wings
Hold The World On Puppet Strings
Egos Will Feed
While Citizens Bleed
That's Always The Way It Goes
Well If They Tried
Maybe They'd See
It'd Do A Little Good To Let The World Be Free
Handshake And A Smile
Gets You On Through
Then Turn It All Around With A Suicide Move
But You Know It's Not Fooling Anyone But Me
You Gotta Make Yourself See What You Want To See

Somewhat prophetic, 1992 song "Foreclosure of a dream", Megadeth

Rise so high, yet so far to fall
A plan of dignity and balance for all
Political breakthrough, euphoria's high
More borrowed money, more borrowed time
Backed in a corner, caught up in the race
Means to an end, ended in disgrace
Perspective is lost in the spirit of the chase

Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost, personal Holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream

Barren land that once filled a need
Are worthless now, dead without a deed
Slipping away from an iron grip
Nature's scales are forced to tip
The heartland dies, loss of all pride
To leave ain't believing, so try and be tried
Insufficient funds, insanity and suicide

Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost, personal Holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream

"The congress will push me to raise taxes and I'll say
'No, read my lips, read my lips, read my lips' "

Now with new hope, some will be proud
This is no hoax, no one pushed out
Receive a reprieve and be a pioneer
Break new ground of a new frontier
New ideas will surely get by
No deed, or dividend. Some may ask "Why?"
You'll find the solution, the answers in the sky

Rise so high, yet so far to fall
A plan of dignity and balance for all
Political breakthrough, euphoria's high
More borrowed money, more borrowed time

Foreclosure of a dream
Those visions never seen
Until all is lost, personal Holocaust
Foreclosure of a dream

BT This Binary Universe. It's a dvd with videos for each song. I can't recommend any specific song, the entire thing should be experienced. I know the name of one song on the album is the Antikythera Mechanism. The antikythera mechanism is an ancient mechanical calculator (also described as the first known "mechanical computer"[1][2]) designed to calculate astronomical positions. Very mellow and strange music.

Here's a trailer of the album for anyone interested.
On the actual disc, you have the option of stereo or 5.1 surround. I haven't done the 5.1 experience but I'm sure it's lovely.

About Disillusionment and Wanting More

My father sits at night with no lights on
His cigarette glows in the dark
The living room is still
I walk by, no remark
I tiptoe past the master bedroom where
My mother reads her magazines
I hear her call "Sweet dreams"
But I forget how to dream

But you say it's time we moved in together
And raised a family of our own, you and me
Well, that's the way I've always heard it should be
You want to marry me, we'll marry

My friends from college they're all married now
They have their houses and their lawns
They have their silent noons
Tearful nights, angry dawns
Their children hate them for the things they're not
They hate themselves for what they are
And yet they drink, they laugh
Close the wound, hide the scar

But you say it's time we moved in together
And raised a family of our own, you and me
Well, that's the way I've always heard it should be
You want to marry me, we'll marry

You say that we can keep our love alive
Babe, all I know is what I see
The couples cling and claw
And drown in love's debris
You say we'll soar like two birds through the clouds
But soon you'll cage me on your shelf
I'll never learn to be just me first by myself

Well O.K, it's time we moved in together
And raised a family of our own, you and me
Well, that's the way I've always heard it should be
You want to marry me, we'll marry
(Marry)
"In the end, only kindness matters."

Still to this day, that song can make me cry, Mama.

The first verse is the one that gets to me. Even now, just reading it again....

It is just too close to what my parents' relationship was like, before they divorced when I was 14.

----------

Here's my contribution for tonight.....

A fine old piece of music, and a VERY well-done video, using both amazing "actual" images, and clips from "Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman", which used to be one of my favorite shows.

Cheyenne Anthem

From the mountains to the sun
Life has only just begun
We wed this land and pledge our souls to meet its end
Life has only just begun

Here my people roam the earth
In the kingdom of our birth
Where the dust of all our horses hides the sun
We are mighty on the earth
On the earth

You have come to move me
Take me from my ancient home
Land of my fathers, I can't leave you now
We will share it with you
No man owns this earth we're on

Now the wheels are rolling
Hear the howling winds of war
It's my destiny to fight and die
Is there no solution?
Can we find no other way?
Lord, let me stay
Under the endless sky
And the earth below
Here I was born to live
And I will never go
Oh, no

But we cannot endure
Like the earth and the mountains
Life is not ours to keep
For a new sun is rising

Soon these days shall pass away
For our freedom we must pay
All our words and deeds are carried on the wind

In the ground our bodies lay
Here we'll stay

"In the end, only kindness matters."

JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME IS ALL WE'RE ASKING FOR
CAUSE JUST A LITTLE MORE TIME COULD OPEN CLOSING DOORS
jUST A LITTLE UNCERTAINTY CAN BRING YOU DOWN

AND NOBODY WANTS TO SHOW YOU HOW

SO IF YOU'RE LOST AND ON YOUR OWN
YOU CAN NEVER SURRENDER
AND IF YOU'RE PATH WON'T LEAD YOU HOME
YOU CAN NEVER SURRENDER
AND WHEN THE NIGHT IS COLD AND DARK
YOU CAN SEE YOU CAN SEE LIGHT
CAUSE NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY YOUR RIGHT
TO FIGHT AND TO NEVER SURRENDER

WITH A LITTLE PERSEVERANCE YOU CAN GET THINGS DONE
WITHOUT A BLIND ADHERENCE THAT HAS CONQUERED SOME
AND NO BODY WANTS TO KNOW YOU KNOW
AND NOBODY WANTS TO SHOW YOU HOW

SO IF YOUR LOST AND ON YOUR OWN
YOU CAN NEVER SURRENDER
AND IF YOU'RE PATH WON'T LEAD YOU HOME
YOU CAN NEVER SURRENDER
AND WHEN THE NIGHT IS COLD AND DARK
YOU CAN SEE YOU CAN SEE LIGHT
CAUSE NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY YOUR RIGHT
TO FIGHT AND TO NEVER SURRENDER

AND WHEN THE NIGHT IS COLD AND DARK
YOU CAN SEE YOU CAN SEE LIGHT
NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY YOUR RIGHT
TO FIGHT AND TO NEVER SURRENDER
TO NEVER SURRENDER
OH TIME IS ALL WE'RE ASKING FOR
TO NEVER SURRENDER
OH, YOU CAN NEVER SURRENDER
TIME IS ALL WE'RE ASKING FOR

Will I wake up
Is it a dream I made up
No I guess it's reality
What will change us
Or will we mess up
Our only chance to connect with a dream

Say a prayer for me, say a prayer for me, say a prayer for me
Say a prayer for me, say a prayer for me
I'm buried by the sound

In a world of human wreckage
In a world of human wreckage
In a world of human wreckage

I'm lost and I'm found
And I can't touch the ground
I'm plowed into the sound

To see wide open
With a head that's broken
Hang a life on a tragedy
Plow me under the ground
That covers the message
That is the seed

Say a prayer for me, say a prayer for me, say a prayer for me
Say a prayer for me, say a prayer for me
I'm buried by the sound

In a world of human wreckage
In a world of human wreckage
In a world of human wreckage

I'm lost and I'm found
And I can't touch the ground
I'm plowed into the sound

Will I wake up
Is it a dream I made up
No I guess it's reality...

Tool is a heavy rock band, most beloved by myself and almost all my friends. I just wanna share these two songs which fit together because they've really meant a lot to me.

The video even has a depiction of what looks to me like an awakening of Kundulini and Ascension.

06 parabol

So familiar and overwhelmingly warm
This one, this form I hold now.
Embracing you, this reality here,
This one, this form I hold now, so
Wide eyed and hopeful.
Wide eyed and hopefully wild.

We barely remember what came before this precious moment,
Choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside...
This body holding me, reminding me that I am not alone in
This body makes me feel eternal. All this pain is an illusion.

07 parabola

We barely remember who or what came before this precious moment,
We are choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside
This holy reality, this holy experience.
Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

Alive, I

In this holy reality, in this holy experience. Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

Twirling round with this familiar parable.
Spinning, weaving round each new experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal.
All this pain is an illusion.

A decade ago, I never thought I would be.
A twenty three on the verge of spontaneous combustion. Woe-is-me
But I guess that it comes with the territory.
An ominous landscape of never-ending calamity.
I need you to hear. I need you to see.
That I have had all I can take
And exploding seems like a definite possibility
To me
So Pardon me while I burst into flames.
I've had enough of the world, and its people's mindless games
So Pardon me while I burn, and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me. I'll never be the same.
Not, two days ago I was having a look in a book
And I saw a picture of a guy fried up above his knees
I said I can relate
Cause lately I've been thinking of
combustication as a welcomed vacation from.
The burdens of the planet earth, like
gravity, hypocrisy, and the perils of
being in 3-D...
And thinking so much differently.
Pardon me while I burst into flames.
I've had enough of the world, and it's people's mindless games
Pardon me while I burn, and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me. I'll never be the same.

Hero of the Day

Mama, they try and break me

The window burns to light the way back home
A light that warms no matter where they've gone
They're off to find the hero of the day
But what if they should fall by someone's wicked way?

Still the window burns
Time so slowly turns
Someone there is sighing
Keepers of the flames
Do you feel your names?
Did you hear your babies crying?

Mama, they try and break me
Still, they try and break me

Excuse me while I tend to how I feel
These things return to me that still seem real
And now, deservingly, this easy chair..
But the rocking's stopped by wheels of despair

Don't want your aid
But the fist I've made
For years can't hold or feel
No, I'm not all me
So please excuse me while I tend to how I feel

But now the dreams and waking screams
That ever last the night
So build the wall, behind it crawl
And hide until it's light
So can you hear your babies crying now?

Still the window burns
Time so slowly turns
And someone there is sighing
Keepers of the flames
Did you feel your names?
Did you hear your babies crying?

But now the dreams and waking screams
That ever last the night
So build a wall, behind it crawl
And hide until it's light
So can't you hear your babies crying now?

Mama, they try and break me
Mama, they try and break me
Mama, they try and break me
Mama, they try
Mama, they try
Mama, they try and break me
Mama, they try and break me
Mama, they try and break me
Mama, they try
Mama, they try

I think Jame's voice is so perfect in this version. I know there are many who did not like the S&M album, but I love it. Of course, I love almost all Metallica.

This song, to me, is a soldier, back from war, trying to deal with what he's been through.

Yeah, yeah, I know.....

I bet I have posted this song at least half a dozen times.

It'll still be good on the upteenth time!

Damage Is Done

Zakk Wylde

I paved this road
I broke myself in two
This I know
Up and down, In between
There's nothing I haven't seen

All these scars which bear my name, yeah
My eyes are wide, ain't nothing's the same, yeah
I tried to run, but the damage is done, yeah
The damage is done
The damage is done

Where I've gone and where I've been
One only knows
One more mountain, one more mile
I'll do as I'm told

All these scars which bear my name, yeah
My eyes are wide, ain't nothing's the same, yeah
I tried to run, but the damage is done, yeah
The damage is done
The damage is done

Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done

All these scars which bear my name, yeah
My eyes are wide, ain't nothing's the same, yeah
I tried to run, but the damage is done, yeah
the damage is done
the damage is done

Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah
The damage is done
Oh yeah, oh yeah

Damage Is Done.

Fear

Zakk Wylde

The sun that's set on our souls
All that's lost as the day is old
When the truth becomes one big lie
So low you never know when you're high
And you thought that you knew it all
Think again, in the end we all fall
When the truth becomes one big lie
So low you never know when you're high

Oh, back home
Oh, back home
Oh, the fear of being alone

The floors that rattle and shake through my head
The doors that slam that wake me in bed
When the truth becomes one big lie
So low you never know when you're high

Oh, back home
Oh, back home
Oh, the fear of being alone
Oh, the fear of being alone

Oh, the fear of being alone
Oh, the fear of being alone

Fear.

Miaree, once again, I have learned of an artist I did not know about!

I particularly enjoyed the second song.

The singer's voice reminds me of sorta of a cross between Scott Stapp and Gregg Allman!

FICTION

I can't decide
I don't know
Which way to go?
The options multiply
The choices grow
Which way to go?
What should I buy?
What should I be?
Which way to go? (Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief?)
So much comes at you
Too much for me
Which way to go?

Elusive dreams and vague desires
Fanned to fiery needs by golden boys
In ad empires
Fiction
Truth
Fiction
Truth
Fiction
Truth
Fiction
Fiction of the boob tube
Fiction of the papers
Fiction of the image and the image makers
Fiction of the magazines
Fiction of the movies
Fiction of the "Buy me," "Watch me," "Listen to me"

I can't decide
I'm so confused
Which way to go?
I'm being useful here?
I'm being used?
Which way to go?
Some line gets drawn
What line is this?
Which way to go?
Could be a threshold
or a precipice
Which way to go?

Elusive dreams and vague desires
Fanned to fiery needs by sexy boys
In flaming T.V. fires
Fiction
Truth
Fiction
Truth

Fiction of the gizmo
Fiction of the data
Fiction of the this is this and that is that - Ahh!

I can't decide
I don't know
Which way to go?
The more you learn
The less you know
Which way to go?
Some follow blind
And never know
Which way to go?
To lead, you need some place to go

Which way to go?

Elusive dreams and vague desires
Fanned to fiery needs by deadly deeds
In falling empires

DOG EAT DOG

It's dog eat dog-
I'm just waking up
The dove is in the dungeon
And the white-washed hawks pedal hate and call it love

Dog Eat Dog
Holy hope in the hands of
Snakebite evangelists and racketeers
And big wig financiers

DOG EAT DOG
On prime time crime the victim begs
Money is the road to justice
And power walks it on crooked legs

Prime-Time-Crime
Holy hope in the hands of
Snakebite evangelists and racketeers
And big wig financiers

Where the wealth's displayed
Thieves and sycophants parade
And where it's made-
the slaves will be taken
Some are treated well
In these games of buy and sell
And some, like poor beasts
Are burdened down to breaking

DOG EAT DOG
It's dog eat dog, ain't it, Flim Flam man?
Dog eat dog, you can lie, cheat, skim, scam
Beat'em any way you can

Dog eat Dog
You'll do well in this land of
Snakebite evangelists and racketeers
You could get to be
A big wig financier

Land of snap decisions
Land of short attention spans
Nothing is savored
Long enough to really understand
In every culture in decline
The watchful ones among the slaves
Know all that is genuine will be
Scorned and conned and cast away

Dog eat dog
People looking, seeing nothing
Dog eat dog
People listening, hearing nothing
Dog eat dog
People lusting, loving nothing
Dog eat dog
People stroking, touching nothing
Dog eat dog
Knowing nothing
Dog eat dog

Little Green Man

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.
You really are a heel.
You're as cuddly as a cactus,
You're as charming as an eel.
Mr. Grinch.

You're a bad banana
With a greasy black peel.

You're a monster, Mr. Grinch.
Your heart's an empty hole.
Your brain is full of spiders,
You've got garlic in your soul.
Mr. Grinch.

I wouldn't touch you, with a
thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole.

You're a vile one, Mr. Grinch.
You have termites in your smile.
You have all the tender sweetness
Of a seasick crocodile.
Mr. Grinch.

Given the choice between the two of you
I'd take the seasick crockodile.

You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch.
You're a nasty, wasty skunk.
Your heart is full of unwashed socks
Your soul is full of gunk.
Mr. Grinch.

The three words that best describe you,
are, and I quote: "Stink. Stank. Stunk."

You're a rotter, Mr. Grinch.
You're the king of sinful sots.
Your heart's a dead tomato splot
With moldy purple spots,
Mr. Grinch.

Your soul is an apalling dump heap overflowing
with the most disgraceful assortment of deplorable
rubbish imaginable,
Mangled up in tangled up knots.

You nauseate me, Mr. Grinch.
With a nauseaus super-naus.
You're a crooked jerky jockey
And you drive a crooked horse.
Mr. Grinch.

You're a three decker saurkraut and toadstool
sandwich
With arsenic sauce.
"In the end, only kindness matters."

Well, I really wanted to post this on the "President Obama" thread....but I decided to be "politically correct", and at least express myself in the appropriate place.

I was reading an article about all the "Obama worship", and someone responded in defense of Obama worship, saying that he is "the light at the end of the tunnel".

Well, being who I am, it immediately reminded me of a song!

So, I quickly started trying to remember all the lyrics, other than the "hook" line, and decided to just listen to it again!

I just about dropped my teeth when I listened to it, from the perspective of all the Obama worship. It really is just uncanny!

Here ya go! Enjoy! (I sure did!)

NO-LEAF CLOVER

And it feels right this time
On this crash course, were in the big time
Pay no mind to the distant thunder
Beauty fills his head with wonder, boy....

Says it feels right this time
Turn around, found new high lights
"Good day to be alive, Sir"
"Good day to be alive", he said.....

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just the freight train coming your way

Don't it feel right like this
All the pieces fall to his wish
Suck up for that quick reward, Boy
Suck up for that quick reward, They said.....

Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just a freight train coming your way
Then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just the freight train coming your way......
Its coming your way
Its coming your way......
Here comes

Yeah, then it comes to be that the soothing light at the end of your tunnel
Is just a freight train coming your way.... yeah...

Then it comes to be, yeah...
Then it comes to be, yeah...
Then it comes to be, yeah...
Then it comes to be, yeah...

Now, each and every line and each carefully chosen word.....just think about it (those of you who WILL) while thinking about this new "Administration".

Fascinating!

But then, I always have been easily entertained! And I LIKE THAT about me!
"In the end, only kindness matters."

I've been a bad, bad girl!
I've been careless with a delicate man
And it's a sad, sad world
When a girl will break a boy just because she can

Don't you tell me to deny it
I've done wrong and I want to suffer for my sins
I've come to you 'cause I need guidance to be true
And I just don't know where I can begin

What I need is a good defense
'Cause I'm feeling like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I've sinned against
Because he's all I ever knew of love

Heaven help me for the way I am
Save me from these evil deeds before I get them done
I know tomorrow brings the consequence at hand
But I keep living this day like the next will never come

Oh help me but don't tell me to deny it
I've got to cleanse myself of all these lies 'till I'm good enough for him
I've got a lot to lose and I'm bettin' high so I'm begging you
Before it ends just tell me where to begin

What I need is a good defense
'Cause I'm feeling like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I've sinned against
Because he's all I ever knew of love

Let me know the way
Before there's hell to pay
Give me room to lay the law and let me go
I've got to make a play
To make my lover stay
So what would an angel say
the devil wants to know

What I need is a good defense
'Cause I'm feeling like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I've sinned against
Because he's all I ever knew of love

"In the end, only kindness matters."

Check it out
Going out
On the late night
Looking tight
Feeling nice
It's a **** fight
I can tell
I just know
That it's going down
Tonight

At the door we don't wait cause we know them
At the bar six shots just beginning
That's when ****head put his hands on me
But you see

I'm not here for your entertainment
You don't really want to mess with me tonight
Just stop and take a second
I was fine before you walked into my life
Cause you know it's over
Before it began
Keep your drink, just give me the money
It's just u & ur hand tonight!

Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh oh
Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh oh

Midnight
I'm drunk
I don't give a ****
Wanna dance
By myself
Guess you're outta luck
Don't touch
Back up
I'm not the one
Buh bye!
Listen up it's just not happening
You can say what you want to your boyfriends
Just let me have my fun tonight
Aiight?

I'm not here for your entertainment
You don't really want to mess with me tonight
Just stop and take a second
I was fine before you walked into my life
Cause you know it's over
Before it began
Keep your drink just give me the money
It's just you and your hand tonight

Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh oh
Break break
Break it down

In the corner with your boys you bet 'em five bucks
You'd get the girl that just walked in but she thinks you suck
We didn't get all dressed up just for you to see
So quit spilling your drinks on me yeah

You know who you are
High-fivin', talking ****
but you're going home alone aren't ya?

Cause I'm not here for your entertainment
No
You don't really want to mess with me tonight
Just stop and take a second
I was fine before you walked into my life
Cause you know it's over
Before it began
Keep your drink, just give me the money
It's just you and your hand tonight
It's just you and your hand

I'm not here for your entertainment
No no no
You don't really want to mess with me tonight
Just stop and take a second
Just take a second
I was fine before you walked into my life
Cause you know it's over
Before it began
Keep your drink just give me the money
It's just you and your hand tonight
Yeah oh

Well you can tell everyone I'm a darn disgrace
Drag my name all over the place
I don't care anymore

You can tell everybody 'bout the state I'm in
You won't catch me crying 'cause I just can't win
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore

I don't care what you say
I don't play the same games you play

'Cause I've been talking to the people
that you call your friends
And it seems to me there's a means to an end
They don't care anymore

And as for me I can sit here and bide my time
I got nothing to lose if I speak my mind

I don't care anymore
I don't care no more

I don't care what you say
We never played by the same rules anyway

I won't be there anymore
Get out of my way
Let me by
I got better things to do with my time
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore
I don't care anymore

Well, I don't care now what you say
'Cause ev'ry day I'm feeling fine with myself
And I don't care now what you say
Hey I'll do alright by myself
'Cause I know

'Cause I remember all the times I tried so hard
And you laughed in my face
'cause you held all the cards

I don't care anymore

And I really ain't bothered what you think of me
'Cause all I want of you is just a let me be
I don't care anymore
D'you hear? I don't care no more

I don't care what you say
I never did believe you much anyway
I won't be there no more
So get out of my way
Let me by
I got better things to do with my time
I don't care anymore
D'you hear? I don't care anymore
I don't care no more
You listening? I don't care no more
No more!

You know I don't care no more!

THE END.
"In the end, only kindness matters."

The Night Watch- by King Crimson

Shine, shine, the light of good works shine
The watch before the city gates depicted in their prime
That golden light all grimy now
Three hundred years have passed
The worthy Captain and his squad of troopers standing fast

The artist knew their faces well
The husbands of his lady friends
His creditors and councillors
In armour bright, the merchant men

Official moments of the guild
In poses keen from bygone days
The city fathers frozen there
Upon the canvas dark with age

The smell of paint, a flask of wine
And turn those faces all to me
The blunderbuss and halberd-shaft
And Dutch respectability

They make their entrance one by one
Defenders of that way of life
The redbrick home, the bourgeoisie
Guitar lessons for the wife

So many years we suffered here
Our country racked with Spanish wars
Now comes a chance to find ourselves
And quiet reigns behind our doors
We think about posterity again

And so the pride of little men
The burghers good and true
Still living through the painter's hand
Request you all to understand

(This was in the days that King Crimson included a member as only a lyricist. The lyricist was Richard Palmer-James who was a founding member of Supertramp
We begin again constantly.

i always liked this one too

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysu-o4oCVSA

I want to hold the hand inside you
I want to take a breath thats true
I look to you and I see nothing
I look to you to see the truth
You live your life
You go in shadows
Youll come apart and youll go black
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with whats not there.

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think its strange you never knew

A strangers light comes on slowly
A strangers heart without a home
You put your hands into your head
And then smiles cover your heart

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think its strange you never knew

Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think its strange you never knew
I think its strange you never knew

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzNzCiZwk28

After seven days
He was quite tired so God said:
"Let there be a day
Just for picnics, with wine and bread"
He gathered up some people he had made
Created blankets and laid back in the shade

The people sipped their wine
And what with God there, they asked him questions
Like: do you have to eat
Or get your hair cut in heaven?
And if your eye got poked out in this life
Would it be waiting up in heaven with your wife?

God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him

So he said:"Once there was a boy
Who woke up with blue hair
To him it was a joy
Until he ran out into the warm air
He thought of how his friends would come to see;
And would they laugh, or had he got some strange disease?"

God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him

The people sat waiting
Out on their blankets in the garden
But God said nothing
So someone asked him:"I beg your pardon:
I'm not quite clear about what you just spoke
What that a parable, or a very subtle joke?"

God shuffled his feet and glanced around at them;
The people cleared their throats and stared right back at him

Most people I know never "get" what the message is.
You can't comfort the afflicted without afflicting the comfortable.

This is a song called 'Music for a Nurse' by the group Oceansize. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ36K58tCd4

And a piece of the pictures bitten right out of the middle
I'm alone and thinner I feel
Is this a prayer?
Anaesthetise me just til you return
I feel the loss like a squandered opportunity to whisper
You're all I ever needed.

Shapes fall into place
For once in your life you make
A clean breakaway.

And did you know that everything you touch is blessed and all the richer
For your love a better being
And if I display just a fraction of the soul you showed in this world
Then I know I'll see you again

Love so much to give
And too few to share it with
Wastes you away.

The dream it comes again and again
You're here
It's you
I pull you close and
Hold you tight
Into the sky you go
You go
And I can't change it
I can't change it.
We begin again constantly.

Here's an new/old(remake) song of mine "dead soldier", which sounds sad, till you realize it's about an empty beer bottle.
I think it has a soothing reggae feel, tell me what you think

http://www.myspace.com/paulferland

I also gave "under suspicion" a makeover
George Bush, he may lie, steal, cheat, mame, kill, commit fraud, bomb, ignore crucial intelligence, and run the country into the ground, but darn it, he'll keep his suit and tie on!!

Here's an oldie but a goodie, that's been on my mind tonight!

I dedicate it to every doctor, therapist, sponsor, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, lawyer, contractor, or other "confidence man"/woman I ever met....

ZAPPA!!

The Mystery Man came over
An' he said: "I'm outa-site!"
He said, for a nominal service charge,
I could reach nirvana t'nite
If I was ready, willing 'n able
To pay him his regular fee
He would drop all the rest of his pressing affairs
And devote His Attention to me

But I said . . .
Look here brother,
Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?
(Now who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?)
Look here brother,
Don't you waste your time on me

The Mystery Man got nervous
An' he fidget around a bit
He reached in the pocket of his Mystery Robe
An' he whipped out a shaving kit

Now, I thought it was a razor
An' a can of foamin' goo
But he told me right then when the top popped open
There was nothin' his box won't do

With the oil of Afro-dytee
An' the dust of the Grand Wazoo
He said:
"You might not believe this, little fella, but it'll cure your Asthma too!"

An' I said . . .
Look here brother,
Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?
(Now what kind of a guru are you anyway?)
Look here brother,
Don't you waste your time on me
Don't waste yer time . . .

I've got troubles of my own, I said
An' you can't help me out
So take your meditations an' your preparations
An' ram it up yer snout

"But I got a Crystal Ball!", he said
An' held it to the light
So I snatched it
All away from him
An' I showed him how to do it right

I wrapped a newspaper 'round my head
So I'd look like I was Deep
I said some Mumbo Jumbos then
An' told him he was goin' to sleep

I robbed his rings
An' pocket watch
An' everything else I found
I had that sucker hypnotized
He couldn't even make a sound

I proceeded to tell him his future then
As long as he was hanging around,
I said
"The price of meat has just gone up
An' yer ol' lady has just gone down . . . "

Look here brother,
Who you jivin' with that Cosmik Debris?
(Now is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho?)
Don't you know,
You could make more money as a butcher,
So don't you waste your WASTE on me

"In the end, only kindness matters."

Fort, you are probably too old to know that much about Zappa.

Be sure to listen to it from home.....he was also a musical genius, as well as a killer satirist.

eh its okay sw...ive always gotten along much better with those older than myself...spent several years in the kanawha rock and gem club, populated by 50+ year old folks...i think i was the only one there under 18 at the time...think i was like 15 actually.

ive always said i am a 1000 year old soul trapped in the mind of 60 year old, trapped in the brain of a 30 year old.

Damn, fort! That's one hellofa song!!! Makin' me cry!

I can remember a time when I was all, "I can't STAND rap music."

Eminem opened up that world for me, and I have just barely put a foot in the door.

Thanks for that!

Now, over to Sal's to post another oldie, but goodie, for you.......

Yeah fortie is at work, and no my masters do not permit me to view streaming anything.

here's a litmust test for determining if fort is at work, if he posts on here after, say, 5:30pm, he is definitely at work hehe

I love that song, especially the final verse, it gets me all "riled up".

I used to hate all rap music as well, until around 2000, when i heard eminem for the first time when I worked at Ticketmaster and we used to sit out in the parking lot on our breaks and smoke pot in the car.

Ever since then i was his #1 fan (besides stan), and have opened up to other artists as well...but of course there is a ton of "crap-rap" out there too that i think is retarded.

Isn't that interesting that it was Eminem that did it for both of us?

And then there's Metallica. Same story. "I can't STAND Metal!" Then, I heard "Enter Sandman", and that was all she wrote.!

So, If you are at work, then how are you able to post links to Youtube? I don't unnerstand?

Please pass me that joint, my friend!

I'd post Little Feat's song about that....but WTF. You can't watch it now!
