i went to visit my mom one day. she was in her late 70's at the time.

as i approached the door i heard the loud music of queen ida, cajun music.

when i walked in, there was my white haired mom, holding the hem of her skirt, prancing around the living room. :-)

you're never too old or too heavy or too anything to dance!

for me, dancing is the purest expression of who i am.

totally without inhibition.

I love to dance. I dance alone, or in a crowd, it doesn't matter. I dance for rain, I dance for clear skies, I dance people in and out of this world.
I even tried belly dancing, but too much belly!

I can post again now, for a while it was just too difficult, i kept getting banned notices. I am back now, hope I can stay!
Sal, I'll have a huge glass of ice water with lemon, afraid I et too much on Thanksgiving. Last night we played cards and yahtzee and ate fireballs with Bob and Lisa across the street. Bob said it felt so good to eat a feast cooked in his own kitchen again (he is the chef in the family). I agreed, nothing ever tasted so good as this Thanksgiving dinner in cooked in my new kitchen. They are almost finished rebuilding their home, just some work left on the bathroom and kitchen. After spending our holidays last year in the FEMA trailor, we sure were thankful this year.
I was a bit sad, though, for the loss of my dad and my cousin, she was my best friend for so many years. I guess I will always miss them the most during the holidays, but I am sure they have moved on, and since this has been a year of endings, I must too.
Thanks, sal, yes, I am glad to be back.

I'm so glad you're back, Kathy, and that you had such a lovely Thanksgiving. After the tragedy of Katrina it's good to know that at last things are beginning to work out for New Orleans and the other parts of the South that were so badly hit. We all pray that no one else ever had to go through such a disaster.

I didn't know anything about you being banned. Where does one go on this Board to find out if someone has been banned? And is any reason given for the banning? I don't want to be banned.

Glad you dance. Wish I could. Maybe someday...

Thanksgiving was good for me this year. It's the first we've spent with our son and daughter-in-law. There was bad blood between my husband and our son, and he (son) was kicked out of the house by my husband. I guess lots of fathers and sons have friction between them: jealousy? competition? whatever the reason. I did a sneaky and helped son when I could. It's all worked out now, son is married 6 1/2 years and they presented us with a beautiful grandson in February of this year. Things are much better now, not perfect, but passable. (Son was 30 when he was "kicked out", so it's not like he was a teenager, and he had a job, just not managing his money well.) It's so difficult to love both father and son when THEY are fighting. And a man will never know the bond that exists between a woman and her child. No one can break that bond except the mother or son!

Sal, please whip up a nice tuna salad with black olives. Need something light for dinner. Too much turkey and stuffing left in the system.

Happy "holidays will be here soon" to everybody. Going to be a fun time for us to watch the grandson's reaction to holiday lights and music.

Cheers! :-) :-) :-)

hahah, Moonhowler, i am not from new Orleans. Last year the northeast section of New York state had a devastating flood. some people here are still in FEMA trailors. i totally undertand your confusion, though, most people are not aware of the flood her, even the folks in New York City were blissfully unaware, although my neighborhood did get a spot on CNN.
Sal, vegetable soup and a tuna sandwich with a big glass of milk, and some fruit salad for dessert. Thanks.

My mom saw my dad last weekend. He made a lot of noise in the hallway, then sneaked in under the covers and gave her a kiss on the cheek. After that he went out the door. He was wearing a white tee shirt and black pants.

I wish I could see him. I miss him.

No problem, lol. With all the hectic days ahead, I think I"ll rest here by the fireplace with my cup of Earl Grey and a good book.

Looks like it is starting to sleet a little outside.

MMMM, Sal, is this a new recipe you are trying out on us? You know I can't resist warm oatmeal cookies fresh from the oven. I'll take two, thanks.

I'm reading Rhett Butler's People, it's a new take on the Gone With the Wind story. It is about Rhett's life and family.

I'm not too far into it yet, but it looks promising, and you all know anything that promises a visit with Katie Scarlett will grab my attention.

Aaahhh, good to be here among friends again.

Hi Ladies.. Oh Kathy thats a beautiful
song.. I so would love to be able to
Dance with mine again also..
Back when I was 22 and went home for
summer visits poor Dad would get kind
of put out of the picture..I was always
gone with friends until Mom would put
her foot down for me to stay home with
the family " For a change" lol..
Anyway the following year I decided I
would plan a night for Dad and I only..
My sisters and brother were out and we
put Mom in the living room to watch TV
and we closed the door.. I turned the
kitchen light off and lit a wack of
candles and brought out the wine.. He
loved his wine :-) then I started to ask
him all types of questions about his
life and meeting Mom etc.. when I figured
he had enough wine to open up more I asked
him to tell me some of the Bear stories
he always told us as kids.. YUP my Dad
Wrestled Bears!! and I never tired of
hearing him and his good friend John Dan
tell these improve stories ..
Anyway we had a great evening!! but it was
the last time we got to share each others
company. He passed the following spring in
March of a massive heart attack..
And I still miss him ..
Well Thanks for listening :-)

to be comfortable but to grow"..

Your Dad sounds like a wonderful person. So glad you got to spend that special time with him.

Wish I'd had more moments of "special time" with my Mom. She's been passed over more than 25 years now, and I miss her every day. My son misses her, too. She would be so happy to see the wonderful great-grandson she now has, 9 months old. I miss her so much - sniff, sniff.

This time of year is very depressing for me now. I'm hoping my grandson will help me overcome some of the loneliness I feel from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day.

Hey, Kathy, did you read the sequel to Gone With the Wind that was out a few years ago? Wonder if they were written by the same person. Enjoy the book and keep us posted.

Hot chocolate for everyone, on me. Glad to be hanging out here with youse guys!

Mull of Kintyre

Mull of Kintyre, oh mist rolling in from the sea
My desire, is always to be here
Oh Mull of Kintyre
Far have I traveled and much have I seen
Darkest of mountains with valleys of green
Vast painted deserts, the sunsets on fire
As he carries me home to the Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre, oh mist rolling in from the sea
My desire, is always to be here
Oh Mull of Kintyre
Sweep through the heather, like deer in the Glen
Carry me back to the days I knew then
Nights when we sang like a heavenly choir
Of the life and the times of the Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre, oh mist rolling in from the sea
My desire, is always to be here
Oh Mull of Kintyre
Smiles in the sunshine and tears in the rain
Still take me back where my memories remain
Flickering embers grow higher and high
As they carry me back to the Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre, oh mist rolling in from the sea
My desire, is always to be here
Oh Mull of Kintyre .....

Oh Sal I love that song let me
snuggle up next to the fire
with you....

Beautiful words, Buddie. I've never heard the tune, but bet it, too, is beautiful.

I'd like to take the time to be "politically correct" and wish every one HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

And, to be "politically incorrect", MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

And, no matter what your religion is or isn't, I do sincerely wish everyone a healthy, happy, prosperous New Year, and may your dreams come true. Hugs and love to all.

Thanks, Buddie, for the youtube address. What did you figure out to not get the stops & starts. I'm on dial-up and it takes forever to download in order to hear it all the way through. Had half of it downloaded and got kicked offline, so have to go back (at another time) and re-download. But, what I DID get to hear was beautiful (as I knew it would be).

Again, thanks.

Well, buddie, that's OK. I learned about the song and I'm glad I did. I'll bet it downloaded eventually.

Hope everyone's holidays were happy. Now we go on to New Year's! My favorite dog died from the poison dog food on Feb. 12 this year, but I was blessed with a beautiful grandson on Feb.21 (notice how the numbers in the date are reversed!), so although 2007 was sad, it was also happy. But why must we lose one love to gain another? Doesn't seem fair.

Good luck to all in 2008, and may our country elect the correct person to lead us in November.

Thanks, animalspirits. I miss my Prince Dogger-dogger an awful, but I DID get a wonderful grandson, so 2007 was a "mixed bag". I guess more good happened than bad, so can't ask more than that these days.

Have a new puppy now, Heinz-57, who was on her way to the pound if the local cop had not been able to find a home for her. Her name is Dixie, because she sort-of looks a little like a Rottweiler we once had (who was also a rescue dog to whom we gave 5 good years of life after being used as a breeder, and apparently abused to boot). Georgia was the Rottweiler's name, and Georgia is a part of "Dixie". Dixie is also almost as smart as Prince. However, she is still a puppy and has a lot of growing to do, and has to learn to stop biting when she is playing. My hands, legs, arms and feet are full of band-aids and red spots.

I hope all of you have a terrific 2008. We can always drop in here at Sal's when the going gets tough, and find a friend. We can also drop in here to share good news (that's even better!).

Hugs to everybody, and a round of your favorite beverage on me!

Howler, having been on dialup recently and trying like crazy to watch the shortest of the vids posted here, I found that if you do this it will allow you to most often view without gaps....

Click on the link and wait for the Youtube window to display. Once the video begins, click on the pause button which is in the same place as the play button. Then wait. Hopefully you wont get kicked off (happens a lot to me back when we had dialup). Then once loaded (see red status bar), hit play. It SHOULD play pretty clean for you. If you are playing while the vid is still downloading, you can often get starts and stops even though the video download is way ahead of where you are in terms of viewing. This can vary depending on your computer and the type of processors it has.

Hope it helps and if it doesn't, you can say its all my fault. :-)

Thanks, Hale, I'll give it a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Don't worry, I'm not a "blamer", but surely do appreciate the info. I have too many faults myself to blame anyone - except serial killers, etc.

What's you drink of choice? The alcoholic beverages here at Sal's are free of calories, and won't make a person inebriated, just makes 'em feel good. It's my treat for the info you gave.

Hi everybody. Sal, I'm trying to ward off a cold, so I'll have a hot toddy-lots of whiskey in a steaming mug of water with honey and lemon. That will do the trick!

Hope everyone is planning to have a wonderful new year.

My new year started Sunday on my birthday.I had a lovely day and received fine gifts-a DVD of The Mists of Avalon, a red velour hoodie (I live in hoodies) and a soft pink sweatshirt. My sisters sent a fruit and flower basket, and a beautiful set of Woodstock wind chimes.

I downloaded Netscape and can get in to the message board for now, but I hear it will be discontinued come February 1. I also downloaded Mozilla Firefox, but seem to be having the same problem with it as I do Windows IE.

Nice to be able to visit, though.

I have been a movie hound lately. TCM had Dr Zhivago and Gone With The Wind, both on the same night, uncut and without commercials. And, of course, The Mists of Avalon. AAAhhh.Love it.

MmM this hot toddy is perfect.

I still haven't taken down the holiday decorations, must get my butt in gear soon.

We waited until two days before Christmas to get the tree, and drove all over looking for one. I was almost in tears. I wanted a big beautiful tree in my living room after the miserable holidays last year.

Then we found it! In a little mom and pop lot, they had mostly big rounded bushy trees, but I turned around and there it stood..alone, under a light. It was perfectly sized and shaped for my living room, and very fresh (it still hasn't lost many needles.)
We decorated it with every shade of blue you can imagine, from pale baby blue to deep midnight blue- and silver, with crystal icicles and lacy white snowflakes. I hate to take it down! It is so beautiful.

We have a hawk that has been lurking around trying to catch the birds that come to my feeder, so we will set the little fir tree up in the front yard so they can shelter and hide during the winter.
Then down to th woods to provide shelter and cover for small mammals in the spring.

Kathy, I'm so glad you had a mice birthday and a good Christmas. You deserve it after last year. Your tree sounds like it was picture-perfect, speaking of which, by chance did you take a photo of it which you could post here? We haven't had a tree in years because The Master declares there is no reason to put one up with only the two of us here! Bah humbug!

Our son, his wife and MY grandson don't come over here, so there's no reason to try the argument that we need one for him to see. My husband and I smoke, thus our house, which is carpeted, always smells of smoke. I have to give up smoking this year, after many years of ignoring my doctors, but the house will still smell of smoke because The Master will still be smoking. I could get to baby-sit more often if I could get him to go outside to smoke. His reply to that has always been "It is MY house and I will smoke in it if I want to. Anyone who doesn't like it can stay away." Boy, is he a pain in the butt sometimes (sometimes?)

Oh, well, that's my problem. Wanted to use smoking as a reason to get new carpeting, or, better yet, Cuban tiles or something of that ilk. Such is life.

Glad you are back again, and hope you can get your computer running so it will allow you to post here more often.

Happy New Year to you, and to all who visit Sal's.

hey, moon.I did take a photo of the tree on Christmas Eve, but haven't uploaded it yet. Will try to do so soon.
There are only the two of us here, and it still makes perfect sense to have the tree.Put one up for yourself and the heck with the "Master" lol
Good for you for quitting smoking. I did twenty six years ago and am happy I did.
I hope to resolve the posting problem somehow, BA assures me it is AOls problem and can't be fixed. My problem is we want broadband and can only afford AOl (its as cheap as DSL.
Netscape is still working. I'll see what other browsers are out there when Netscape is gone.
I hate to leave UC.

THROWS ON SOME VAN THE MAN

Wonderful Remark

How can you stand the silence
That pervades when we all cry?
How can you watch the violence
That erupts before your eyes?
How can you tell us something
Just to keep us hangin' on?
Something that just don't mean nothing
When we see it you are gone
Clinging to some other rainbow
While we're standing, waiting in the cold
Telling us the same old story
Knowing time is growing old.
That was a Wonderful Remark
I had my eyes closed in the dark
I sighed a million sighs
I told a million lies - to myself - to myself

How can we listen to you
When we know your talk is cheap?
How can we ever question
Why we give more and you keep?
How can your empty laughter
Fill a room like ours with joy
When you're only playing with us
Like a child does with a toy?
How can we ever feel the freedom
Or the flame lit by the spark
How can we ever come out even
When reality is stark?

That was a Wonderful Remark
I had my eyes closed in the dark - yeah
I sighed a million sighs
I told a million lies - to myself - to myself
Baby to myse - e - e - elf

Sal, I'll take some jasmine tea and whatever magical potion you might have for a 3-day headache.

Hi, buddie! Thanks for thinking of me! Most days, I believe nobody thinks of me around here....even when I am posting.

Other days, I just get too disillusioned with a lot of what goes on here on the board, and I don't WANT to be here.

Anyway.....I been "layin' low" for a while now.....or sump'm.

Hope your new year is starting out bright and promising!

And that's a helluva good Van song!

OK, well, I just punched in the next song to play after yours, Buddie: "Richard" by Joni Mitchell.

"He put a quarter in the Wurlitzer,
and he pushed three buttons, and the thing began to whir."

This is more about ME than it is about any of you good people here (big surprise there, huh?)....but, this song speaks to how I've been feeling about UC lately:

"I'm gonna blow this damn candle out
I don't want nobody comin' over to my table
I've got nothing to talk to anybody about
All good dreamers pass this way some day
Hidin' behind bottles in dark cafes

Dark cafes
Only a dark cocoon before I get my gorgeous wings
And fly away
Only a phase, these dark cafe days."

(Joni)

OK....I'm outa here....and will try to come back in a better mood!

Hey, Second Wind, come back soon. We all love ya here at Sal's, so if you're having problems here on the Board, in other "locales", there's always Sal's.

Read on the "non-smoker's" thread that you are trying to quit smoking, so that may have something to do with why you are hitting a rough spot. I've been told that I now have COPD,to go with all my other "ailments", and am supposed to quit smoking myself. I'm really not in the right frame of mind to quit right now, but I'm trying to work myself into it.

As for the Board in general, sometimes I get a little p.o.'d with it myself. No matter how hard I try to find the right words to express myself so as not to be misunderstood, I nevertheless offend someone. I haven't the energy to spare to have to "fight" with others here. When that happens, I just read what is posted and don't post anything myself.

Been depressed since August and it's oh so hard not to let people see (or feel) my depression. I don't want to talk about it. Talking about it only makes it worse. So it's silent tears all alone in my bedroom. (My husband and I don't sleep in the same room since our son moved out. I have problems sleeping and I "keep him awake" getting up and down all night. Oh, well...)

Think tonight I'll have some of your magic raspberry wine tonight Sal. Hey, Buddie, you still here? How's things with you?
Let's all chat about happy things, shall we?

Hi, Moonhowler. Sorry to hear you have been depressed as well.

Yes, the quitting smoking (2 months smoke free today!!!) is definitely PART of what's affecting my mood. You will certainly get no judgement from me on not being ready to quit yet. I have quit and started up again way too many times. I even quit for 13 years!!!! and started up again after my mother died....of lung cancer!

I agree with what you said about getting misinterpreted. That happens a lot....as does baiting, and all manner of games.

I feel as you do, that I no longer (or at least, currently) have the energy to deal with it. I, like you, have very little energy (physical or emotional) to spare, so I am very selfish about where and how I choose to expend it.

There are times when the whole world seems like one big psychic/emotional vampire!

But......that's not "happy things"......oops.

So......

I'll tell you about my sweet old cat, who is in my lap as I type. He is between me and the keyboard, and he is resting his head on my left arm as I type. The movement of my arms jostling his head around just seems to comfort him!!!! God love him.....and all the critters!

Hugs to you, Moonhowler, buddie, and all who enter Sal's! And thanks for welcoming me, even though I rarely make it in!!!

i tend to use the board as a sort-of escape from real life when i need it, personally...i can't say ive never been affected by some things on here, but i try my best to keep a jovial spirit about most things, even if they are adversarial in nature.

fort, would you consider giving lessons in how to keep this level of objectivity?

But seriously.......there are times when I can do that as well. But not usually.

And I have used the board as an escape from real life, as well. But that was not what brought me to the board originally.

Sal, bring fort whatever he would like, and put it on my tab! In fact.......

"Come on down to the Mermaid Cafe
and I will buy you a bottle of wine
And we'll laugh and toast to nothing
and smash our empty glasses down
Let's have a round for these freaks and these soldiers
A round for these friends of mine
Let's have another round for the bright red devil
Who keeps me in this tourist town"

Sal, all i need is a Vicodin, and Dr. Pepper! Thanks to SW!

I have to admit, originally I came here because I had sent Whitley a lengthy email about the fact that I had been a big fan of his years ago(and had written him a pretty lengthy letter when I was somewhat younger), but after reading his site I was dismayed that he seemed to believe in (what i consider) the myth of 9/11...and i thought there was some slim chance that maybe he would show up here from time to time and I could actually speak to the man himself (though admittedly I I didn't hold out much hope of this)...and here I am...

So, how's everybody now?

Mama, I, too, hope you are feeling better.

I have felt better today, in several ways. Not so down, not so paranoid, and not so "reformed-smoker-bitchy"!

Had a near-full-blown migraine last night. 30 mins. of aura, and a headache of 5 on that 1-10 scale. But it passed after taking a Percogesic, and laying down for an hour, with Blue Ice on the back of my head.

I have been on a tea tangent, thinking that it would help with the cig cravings, since I associate coffee with cigs. Wonder if the lowering of caffeine intake there is what caused the migraine?

Anyway.....so, Sal, I'll take a cup of espresso, and one Godiva truffle.

Where are all the stuffies, and who hid them? Where did you find your greyfus, Mama?

I want my wabbit.

So glad to see folks coming back to Sal's. It's such a safe place in this stormy world.

Been having sleep problems, and have been unable to make it to the computer. I'm so far behind in so many things. Oh, well, in the grand scheme of things, it's of little consequence I suppose. I used to work for a pathologist who used to say "Will it make a difference in 100 hears from now?" And I always thought, naw, it won't. Now I think - "How the devil am I supposed to know?" Maybe I might accidentally say/do something which might inspire someone else to do something REALLY IMPORTANT. I'm so mundane, it's hardly likely, but one never can tell...

Glad to see Fort has dropped by. He pays attention to most of what's happening on the Board, and doesn't seem to take offense at some of the jabs thrown.

Dixie appears to be doing better and my hands, arms, and legs are healing. Now she's giving The Master a difficult time cuz he's had to save her butt a couple times when she got stuck in our iron door (between us and our outer door - for security purposes). When she first came, she was small enough to slip through the bottom spaces; however, she's grown substantially in the past month and hasn't figured out that she won't fit through anymore. He has to bend down an dislodge her. She didn't really mean to hurt him, just wasn't sure what he was doing that was causing her pain. Well, of course it caused her pain - she was stuck and he had to gently ease her out of the space.

Grandson, Steve, is 11 months old today, and is walking around all over the place. He still falls on his rump plenty, but gets up and goes at it again. Now, if only he would get some teeth! Don't know why he's so late getting them. Doesn't have nary a one. But he seems to be pretty intelligent for his age. Hope it continues. I'll try to put his photo in here:

(If it doesn't come up, it's just because I don't know what I'm doing!)

Sal, please give everybody a round of whatever they're having, on my tab. And ask Mommashine if she's ready to talk about what's been bothering her. Hope she's doing better.

Hugs and warm fuzzies to all.

Ah, Sting.......

Moonhowler, is Dixie a new pet? And what's up with your arms and hands and legs? (I'm sorry if I have not kept up with where you have posted about this.)

I can certainly sympathize about the sleep issues.

I am a Cancer, and the full moon is getting to me really bad this month. Been having crying spells, something (???several things???) coming up from deep in my gut/soul/spirit. A purging of sorts, I guess? But.....I'll be glad when this subsides.....

So.....Sal, I think tonight I will have a nice cold Corona with lime......or two.

Thanks for the round, Moonhowler.

Sad Cafe

Out in the shiny night, the rain
Was softly falling
The tracks that ran down the boulevard had
All been washed away

Out of the silver light, the past came softly calling
And I remember the times we spent
Inside the sad cafe

Oh, it seemed like a holy place,
Protected by amazing grace
And we would sing right out loud, the
Things we could not say
We thought we could change this world
With words like love and freedom
We were part of the lonely crowd
Inside the sad cafe

Oh, expecting to fly,
We would meet on that beautiful shore in the
Sweet by and by

Some of their dreams came true,
Some just passed away
And some of the stayed behind
Inside the sad cafe.

The clouds rolled in and hid that shore
Now that glory train, it don't stop here no more
Now I look at the years gone by,
And wonder at the powers that be.
I don't know why fortune smiles on some
And lets the rest go free

Maybe the time has drawn the faces I recall
But things in this life change very slowly,
If they ever change at all
Theres no use in asking why,
It just turned out that way
So meet me at midnight baby
Inside the sad cafe.
Why don't you meet me at midnight baby,
Inside the sad cafe.
"In the end, only kindness matters."

Yes, SW, Dixie is a new puppy. I've only mentioned her here because I'm not sure if we'll be able to keep her. It's been a very long time since we've had a puppy. Had many rescued older dogs, but no puppies. She is so full of energy, and gets into everything, AND likes to play roughly - thus the bite marks and scratches on arms, hands, legs, feet, etc. She doesn't mean to "bite" us, but her little puppy teeth are sharp as razors. Otherwise, she is a love. She's a Heinz-57, apparently mostly retriever (Golden or Chesapeake), admixed with...what? A cop had her in the drugstore one Saturday night just before Christmas and was going to have to call animal control to pick her up if no one took her. Well, like a do-do, I took her.

Cop (City of West Miami, a tiny bedroom community of Miami) said she was probably about 3 months old. We will have her spayed at 6 months. Cop also said if we didn't/couldn't keep her, to call him and he'd pick her up and try again to place her. One can do things like this when one has such a tiny police department as we do. (We get fire & paramedics from Metro-Dade County.)

So, that's the story of Dixie. We are still trying, but The Master is losing patience. We've almost house-broken her, it's the rough play that we can't get under control, and the chewing up of everything, even though we have lots of "chew toys" for her. Keeping my fingers crossed - those that are not sore from puppy teeth!

I'll have some more magic raspberry wine, Sal. Does wonders for the wounds. LOL

Moonhowler, have you tried the obedience classes at PetSmart? I know of two different people here where I live who had really good results with their puppies' training.

The girl who does the training here is really special. She has a Blue Heeler that is damn near as smart as old Skidboot The Dog was.

I wish you the best of luck with the puppy, and hope you are able to keep her!

Feeling a bit more positive today, and somewhat better physically. (Yeah, they go hand-in-hand!)

So, Sal, your comfort food must be working! Or, maybe it's just that the full moon is passing!

I'll have one of everything!!!

For Sal and other Insomniac's
thought I'd put it here also :-)

The Old Straw Broom

The ole straw broom swept off the porch
many many times and swept and swept
”this ole house” and even swept the
barn floor. The ole broom was used to
beat out the throw rugs and shoo away
animals. The ole broom was left out in
the cold; the ole broom was left out
in the rain. The ole broom was stepped
on, walked on,and used to wipe off
boot-caked mud ...

This ole broom was used by papa;

This ole broom was used by mom;

This ole broom was a kid’s playhorse;

This ole broom was played like a guitar;

This ole broom was a play rifle gun;

This ole broom has gotten older;

This ole broom has lost some straw;

This ole broom is still fit to kick up dust;

But this ole broom is tired of broomship.

This ole broom wants to fly like a bird;

This ole broom is still a good ole stick;

This ole broom may be you today or tomorrow;

This ole broom may be me.

When your broom job is completed,

It doesn’t mean your life is done.

Most likely being such a good sweeper,

It means your best of life is just begun.

Sal I've been shedding some baggage
lately.. I remember words to this
effect from someone.. somewhere..

Life is forever moving forward.
If you keep yearning for the past you
remain stuck in a way. Let the past be
and look forward to new futures. You
change and the people in your life change.
Your desires also change with you. So
instead of having a pre set agenda from
the past, enjoy the present with an
open mind that allows your new changed
desires to manifest in new form.
Life is about making known the unknown.
Therefore it's easier to manifest the
new than to revive the old.
It is sad I know. Sometimes we can
spend time in nostalgia and hope for
it to happen again, while all the time
our actual current desires are knocking
on the door.Because our minds are in the
past we don't recognise the current.

I think I'm trying to quote kathy..
Anyway I'll have a glass O'wine Sal
and Thanks .. your a great listener
a we n' de yauh ho. eh

Hi Sal, give me a latte and a big cookie, I will sit over here by the window and lick my wounds awhile. Well, at least the sun is shinin today. Need Buddies optimistic attitude to rub off on me. Seems like one of those days when ya just need to be alone and think. I mean, what the heck am I doin in this town anyway?

I shoulda stayed in D.C. At least there people never got too personal. Everybody just kept movin and didn't have time to sit around ponderin bout all this weird stuff.

(kicks the chair out and sits down and stares out the window)

I'm here Momma shine, just have fever and a nasty cold. Got to keep puppy. She IS house trained, and has slowed down a bit on her "love bites" which would leave The Master and I full of wounds.

Gotta go now. Be back later. Thinking of all of you. Mia - you OK?

I'll take two hot toddies for the body, one for me and one for The Master. Hugs to all.

Hang in there, Mia. Look at the memories, then let them go and live in the present. NOW is the only time we have. There is no guarantee for tomorrow. So live today to its fullest and hope for a terrific tomorrow. Don't let old memories weigh you down. If the memories aren't good, let them go - now.

We all care about you. You are important to US.

"It's easier to manifest the

Buddie, that's amazing. That would make a great sig line......or even a motivational poster! (From a "Motivational Poster named Buddie!!!)

I have been trying to find a "single" reason for my gloomy mood today. First, I thought "chemtrails". Then, I thought it was worry about Father coming tomorrow.....or, something about "Super Tuesday".

I just remembered that the reason I woke up depressed was due to nightmares.

But why the nightmares? The same possible reasons I listed above *could* account for them.....I don't know.

chicken/egg?

Buddie, what is the connection between Brighid (I miss her, too, and others now gone) and the Green River Killings? (If I should know that, historically, from the board, then I apologize for my memory problems.)

Sal, may I please have some of your best comfort food, please? I hear-tell that you have a secret ingredient that causes intense feelings of well-being! I'll have a generous serving!

Brighid mentioned back when the
killings were going on she was
also a street girl and she lost
a very close and dear friend..
Her version was more painful to
read .. She showed a police poster
picture of her friend .. she was
feeling like 'But for the grace of
God go I' .. Brighid was a very strong
girl .. I'm reading a book now about
a British Columbia serial killer who
preyed on street ladies for years and
they linked him to Gary Ridgway GRK..
I guess thats why this particular
memory of Brighid came back..
I LOVE YOUR YOUTUBE .. makes me want
to snuggle in the back seat
a we n' de yauh ho. eh
