Perfect! That song is summer to me! Check out the hairdos: http://youtube.com/watch?v=bdkcB5fOCSQ (takes a swig, watches the fireworks) Man, those were the good ole days. Riding the motercycle in our bathing suits on hot summer nights, air so thick with honeysuckle and roses you could eat it with a spoon. Going to the swimmin hole, strippin off the suits and swimmin nekkid... We had a camaraderie then, we were together against the war, our friends were coming back in boxes, I got preggers and my guy didn't get killed, rode in a van wearing hippie headbands and trusting and loving absolutely everyone under thirty... and http://youtube.com/watch?v=dgFWibrTAKQ Boy that water at the swimming hole was so cool after the long hot day, wet bodies and innocent kisses And Fireworks! Plays Kathys Song by simon and garfunkel I hear the drizzle of the rain Like memory it falls Soft and warm continuing Tapping on my roof and walls And from the shelter of my mind Through the windows of my eyes I gaze beyond the rain drenched streets To SALS where my heart lies My minds distracted and diffused My thoughts are many miles away They with you when your asleep And kiss you when you start your day And a song I was writing is left undone I don't know why I spend my time Writing songs I can't believe With words that tear and strain to rhyme And so you see I have come to doubt All that I once held as true I stand alone without beliefs The only truth I know is you And as I watch the drops of rain Weave their weary paths and die I know that I am like the rain There but for the grace of you go I "I know I did not come here to be comfortable but to grow".. Awww, sweet. Oh, thank you, sal, a warm cup of tea will just hit the spot. So much has passed in the last year or so. Today is Friday the Thirteenth, my Dad's special day. (He was born on Friday the Thirteenth). I missed him this week when I went in for surgery. He would have called me and (out of earshot of my mother) gotten a bit teary, since he hated to see any of his girls frightened or in pain. He would have reassured me. I feel orphaned with him gone from here, now. The flowers are blooming beautifully over my Buddy's grave. He is buried under the weeping cherry tree out front where he liked to lay and guard the house as he watched the birds. I found his photo in last years journal as I perused it this morning. Such a handsome fella he was. I miss him. In the past week we commemorated the great flood of 2007, and received a fine gift from the Creator. Three rainbows graced our street within five days, two of them doubles, arching over our street and across the river that rose and devastated so many here. I believe it is a sign that it will not happen again, that we have come through this trial with grace and love and friendship, and have passed the test. I am still in a little pain from the surgery, but taking a much needed rest. I think this is a year of endings for me, but in a good way. The ending of all the things that have been so difficult for so long, clearing the way for new beginnings. I hope Sal's doesn't end, though. Humans believe they are devils pretending to be angels when, in fact, the reverse is true.

Oh, no, please don't let Sal's end! It is the last bastion on the way to saving one's sanity. So many nice people here to pick up one's spirits (alcoholic or otherwise, teehee). Quick, somebody tell me something nice that's happened to them recently. Kathy, I'm glad your gallbladder "came out" well (jeez, from whence cometh these horrible puns?). I need some good news, and all I can think of is the 60s song, by Bob Dylan, I think: Good news week. Someone dropped a bomb somewhere, contaminated atmosphere. Good news week. Surely, there must be something better than that around. I'll have, please Sal, a super giant-sized glass of strong, dark, sweetened with real sugar, iced tea. It's hotter than blazes down here. Heat index over 100. Ugh! ! ! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ No good deed goes unpunished. ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

mmmm...Good news Coca-Cola Company Pledges to Replace the Water It Uses in Its Beverages and Their Production The Coca-Cola Company pledged to replace the water it uses in its global beverage operations, and that of its franchise bottlers, as part of a $20 million commitment to the World Wildlife Fund launched to help conserve seven of the world's most important freshwater river basins. "Our goal is to replace every drop of water we use in our beverages and their production," said the Company's CEO, E. Neville Isdell...

Not sure, but I imagine they are funding water conservation efforts. In other words-if they use 20 gallons of water, they will provide funding to conserve 20 gallons of water that would otherwise be lost without the funding. Poor choice of words, though... Maybe they will make water somehow, lol Humans believe they are devils pretending to be angels when, in fact, the reverse is true.

Hi mama. I saw the lights on and thought I would stop in, glad to see someone still remembers the days before the board stated going downhill. (Munches on the potato chips) What do you think happened here/ Why does everyone seem to want to pick a fight? sometimes I think it is a totally outside plan to bring down the site, other times it seems we are just too sensitive. Yeah, too much feudin', fussin' and afightin' on the Big Board. Had to stop reading for a while. Must be the weather, or the season or even the humidity. Think I'll just hang out around here where there's peace, calm and friendliness. Glad you could drop in, Hale. Don't make yourself a stranger. Mama Shine, there ain't no calories in anything served here at Sal's. A body can have any and everything, it all tastes heavenly, savory, and there ain't one calorie to be had. That's why I come here for cheesecake, pecan pie, big juicy steaks, potatoes with gobs of butter or REAL sour cream, etc. So, you never have to deprive yourself of anything you want to eat here. HERE. This is Sal's, not part of the real, mean ole' world. Just droppin' in to say my howdies, and grab some nice cool air. Sure has been one heck of a hot summer so far. As long as we don't lose electric power for the a/c, and we don't get any of the "H" word, guess I'll not complain too much. But honestly, we could use a little rain in the afternoons, to cool things down and water the grass and flowers. What you folks doin' to keep out of trouble this summer? ?????? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ No good deed goes unpunished. ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hey Sal my greens are all coming up real good, you want some when they're ready? We can have beans, greens, corn bread!? Oh, and coconut cream pie!!! Can I please have a banana milk shake? Thanks! Man, I had a run in with a snake in the chicken house yesterday! Went to fumble through the hay and thought I had an egg in my hand, but it SLITHERED OUT!!!!! Holy moly! 6 ft long, I promise! Dang, there's 10 songs to be played before mine, guess I'll be here a while!
Gotta hear Lyle Lovett today. MMmmmmmmmm.....GOOD shake Sal! I'm glad the lights arent bright in here, I love the dimming....especially in this heat. Keepin outta trouble? 15 acres, 1/2 acre garden, 2 horses, 20 chickens, oh, and then there's the job I go to to make money...... Livin on a farm you just LOVE the thought of fall and winter! Weekends really off! LOL! Trouble though finds me still.... lol. Trouble = opportunities..... LOL! Boy, that shake was filling, I wont want to cook dinner now and the ole hubby will be terribly hungry when he gets home.....be one of those "fend fer your self nights". lol. Moonhowler, your name always makes me miss my ole dog Brando, he was my howling buddy. (sigh).... But, there's a dog off in the distance that howls the loneliest howl I've ever heard....I cant let his howl go alone. What are YOU doin to stay outta trouble? "Who knows?" "We'll see."

Well you step right up to to Ole' Juke Box anytime and play some songs.. we most times only say the title and press PLAY Sorry fur butten' in like this want you to feel at home is all since Sal's got her feets up BEST we not wake her.. Joins Firestar for a cool Rootbeer and wonders where Secondwind has been.. Sal has sumpten called .. a um ohhh it's like a like a big block of ice and it's covered with burlap. It's called a swamp cooler is how we cool down at Sals.. but that name escirts me "I know I did not come here to be comfortable but to grow".. Qua da di

Swamp coolers are not too much fun. Oh, they are allright if the humidity is only around, oh, say, 15% or less! Grateful I don't live with one anymore. So, can I get back behind the counter and make myself a Margarita? (Don't want to wake Sal! She is sleepin' SO good!) But I want my Velveteen Rabbit Stuffie and some tequila oblivion. I know that tequila is not the answer to what seems like a hopeless world.....which is why I come here to have it, cause there are no real-world consequences in here!!! Just like there are no calories in the munchies here! So, I think I'll make a huge plate of Nachos to go with my Margarita. Anybody want some? (punches up "Morning Has Broken" on the jukebox...) firestarter, what kind of snake was it? Moonhowler sits at the counter where Second Wind has set-up shop while Sal snoozes. Guess I could break my own rules and have a raspberry brandy on the rocks, please, Second Wind, if there's any back there. I ain't worried about the calories, I'm worried cuz the tiniest bit of alcohol makes me dizzy and I stagger. Can't drink enough to even get a buzz! All the alcoholic beverages here are MAGIC! They provide the benefits, without the bad effects! In the real world, drinks just make me terribly tired and achy......even just one....unless I have it with a meal and drink it really slow. And my Nachos will SET YOU FREE!! (Well, actually, it's capuccino and Godiva truffles that will set you free! But my nachos are damn good!) So anyway, here is your MAGIC raspberry brandy, OTR! (Dang, that sounds good! Maybe I'll have that, instead of the Margarita! I don't need the extra salt anyway!!) .....sw pours brand in cool crystal snifters she found behind the counter....then proceeds to chop fresh jalepenos........YUM! Thanks, Second Wind. I completely forgot about the magic alcohol at Sal's. Mighty tasty stuff, ain't it. Thanks for pulling it up. NO doubt the alcohol-related stuff we share, i.e. how it affects us, is related to CFS/CFIDS, but HERE we can really indulge. Yee haw, y'all. !!! Moonhowler sips her raspberry brandy and is all happy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ No good deed goes unpunished. ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"NO doubt the alcohol-related stuff we share, i.e. how it affects us, is related to CFS/CFIDS, but HERE we can really indulge." I completely agree, on both counts. So, I am truly grateful for Sal's fare! (Careful with those "Yee Haws"....you're gonna wake Sal!) "In the end, only kindness matters."

Hi, Sal.I know the party is over at the pond tonight, but I am in a quiet mood. I think I will have a nice glass of sherry. I have been thinking about my cat, Buddy, a lot lately. He died around this time two years ago. If one can have a cat for a soulmate, he was mine. Anyway, I opened the mail this morning, it was a bunch of Christmas cards from the Humane Society. There, looking right at me, was a drawing of my Buddy, big Maine Coon Cat, wearing a wreath around his neck.It was looking at me just like he did, the same expression in its eyes that he used to have. I felt as if he knew, somewhere, that I had been missing him, and sent me a card. Nice. Humans believe they are devils pretending to be angels when, in fact, the reverse is true.

Did everyone have a good Halloween? Only three trick-or-treaters here. All the folks with young people now live way out west of here (and WE used to the the "outskirts"). Sure do miss all the fun of the kids in costume and handing out candy. My grandson's first Halloween. He's only 8 months old, but wore a Spiderman costume to day care today. He makes a very cute Spiderman! We're also busy having a tropical storm ("Noel"), so not too any people out anywhere tonight. Ya get blown away trying to walk down the street. We need to breathe some life back into Sal's. Sal's still the same grand ole' person, as always, but few folks drop in these days. This is where we used to share our fun things, and our cry-face things, too. How about some stories about good stuff happening to folks. I'll be awaitin'. Meanwhile, Sal, please fix me up something refreshing to drink with some of your home-made goodies on which to snack. Thanks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ No good deed goes unpunished. ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My dancing days were during the hippie period...and boy could I dance. I am a bit to heavy to do it now, but I love the commercial with the Elephant dancing in the rain...it shows great joy. Now I dance in my heart and soul. It is still fun.

I used to dance, but on skates - ice skates when we had good ice rinks down here (yep, Miami had some ice rinks, don't know if they are still around, though), and then on to roller skates, old fashioned four-wheel per skate kind. Of course, I needed a partner for the dance skating. My first love was to skate free-style, with the wind rushing in my face and the music building to crescendo as I jumped or did a spin. But alas, I made one-too-many falls on the difficult jumps and ruinated my knees. (I made up that word!) The only thing I could do then was the much tamer dance skating. But, I loved that, too. Ah, to be young again. Now all I can do is watch the skaters on TV, or if I'm lucky enough, make it to an actual ice show in person. Yet I can still feel the wind in my face, with the entire rink all to myself to jump and spin and be in harmony with the music. Think I'll have some of that magic raspberry brandy and reminisce for a while. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ No good deed goes unpunished. ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Moonhowler, I use to skate, but not on ice. I hadn't thought about that in years. That was such fun! Thanks for reminding me of that.... Understand that all things are sacred--yet nothing is sacred. ~Yotee Coyote
