Hello In there.. John Prine We had an apartment in the city Me and loretta liked living there Well,it's been years since the kids have grown A life of their own left us alone John and linda live in Omaha And joe is somewhere on the road We lost Davy in the korean war And I still don't know what for Don't matter anymore Ya' know that old trees just grow stronger And old rivers grow wilder ever day Old people just grow lonesome Waiting for someone to say "hello in there, hello" Me and loretta we don't talk much more She sits and stares through the back door screen And old news just repeats itself Like some forgotten dream That we've both seen Someday i'll go and call up rudy We worked together at the factory But what could I say if he asks "whats new, Nothing, whats with you, nothing much to do" Ya know that old trees just grow stronger And old rivers grow wilder every day Old people just grow lonesome Waiting for someone to say "hello in there, hello" So if you're walking down the street sometime And spot some hollow ancient eyes Please don't just pass'em by and stare As if you didn't care, say "hello in there, hello" Qua da di

Sentimental is healthy, right?
Script for a Jester's Tear --Marillion So here I am once more in the playground of the broken hearts One more experience, one more entry in a diary, self-penned Yet another emotional suicide overdosed on sentiment and pride Too late to say I love you, too late to re-stage the play Abandoning the relics in my playground of yesterday I'm losing on the swings, I'm losing on the roundabouts I'm losing on the swings, I'm losing on the roundabouts Too much, too soon, too far to go, too late to play, the game is over The game is over I act the role in classic style of a martyr carved with twisted smile To bleed the lyric for this song to write the rites to right my wrongs An epitaph to a broken dream to exorcise this silent scream A scream that's borne from sorrow I never did write that love song, the words just never seemed to flow Now sad in reflection did I gaze through perfection And examine the shadows on the other side of the morning And examine the shadows on the other side of mourning Promised wedding now a wake The fool escaped from paradise will look over his shoulder and cry Sit and chew on daffodils and struggle to answer why? As you grow up and leave the playground Where you kissed your prince and found your frog Remember the jester that showed you tears, the script for tears So I'll hold our peace forever when you wear your bridal gown In the silence of my shame the mute that sang the sirens' song Has gone solo in the game, I've gone solo in the game But the game is over Can you still say you love me So ladies, fish and gentlemen Here’s my angled dream See me in the blue sky bag And meet me by the sea

Ditto, that! Marillion!!! Yum!!!! Haven't thought about them in ages....gotta get out the LP's again! OOPS! Can't do that. Stereo equipment and music is at the new house, and I'm not....yet. A winter's day In a deep and dark december; I am alone, Gazing from my window To the streets below, On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow. I am a rock, I am an island. I've built walls, A fortress deep and mighty, That none may penetrate. I have no need of friendship; friendship causes pain. It's laughter and it's loving I disdain. I am a rock, I am an island. Don't talk of love. Well, I've heard the word before. It's sleeping in my memory. I won't disturb the slumber of feelings that have died. If I never loved I never would have cried. I am a rock, I am an island. I have my books And my poetry to protect me. I am shielded in my armor, Hiding in my room, safe within my womb. I touch no one and no one touches me. I am a rock, I am an island. And a rock feels no pain; And an island never cries Simon & Garfunkel "In the end, only kindness matters."

Met my old lover in the grocery store The snow was falling Christmas Eve I stole behind her in the frozen foods And I touched her on the sleeve She didn't recognize the face at first But then her eyes flew open wide She went to hug me and she spilled her purse And we laughed until we cried We took our groceries to the checkout stand The food was totalled up and bagged We stood there lost in our embarrassment As the conversation dragged We went to have ourselves a drink or two But couldn't find an open bar We bought a six-pack at the liquor store And we drank it in her car We drank a toast to innocence We drank a toast to now And tried to reach beyond the emptiness But neither one knew how She said she'd married her an architect Who kept her warm and safe and dry She would have liked to say she loved the man But she didn't like to lie I said the years had been a friend to her And that her eyes were still as blue But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I saw doubt or gratitude She said she saw me in the record stores And that I must be doing well I said the audience was heavenly But the traveling was hell We drank a toast to innocence We drank a toast to now And tried to reach beyond the emptiness But neither one knew how We drank a toast to innocence We drank a toast to time Reliving in our eloquence Another auld lang syne... The beer was empty and our tongues were tired, And running out of things to say She gave a kiss to me as I got out And I watched her drive away Just for a moment I was back at school And felt that old familiar pain And as I turned to make my way back home The snow turned into rain -- Dan Fogelberg (Message edited by thelabrat on December 16, 2006) "In the end, only kindness matters."

OOooh Simon & Garfunkel.. I get chills from that song! I can still hear the harmonies from the very first word Nexus Across the vein of night there cuts a path of searing light Burning like a beacon on the edges of our sight At the point of total darkness and the lights divine divide A soul can let it's shadow stretch and land on either side And balanced on the precipice the moment must reveal Naked in the face of time, our race within the wheel As we hang beneath the heavens, and we hover over hell Our hearts become the instrument we learn to play so well Wealthy the spirit that knows it's own flight Stealthy the hunter who slays his own fright Blessed the traveler who journeys the length of the light Outside the pull of gravity, beyond the spectral vail Within our carefully reasoning,we search to no avail For the constant in the chaos, for the fulcrum in the void Following a destiny our steps can not avoid Across the vein of night there cuts a path of searing light Burning like a beacon on the edges of our sight At the point of total darkness and the lights divine divide A soul can let its shadow stretch and land on either side Wealthy the spirit that knows its own flight Stealthy the hunter who slays his own fright Blessed the traveler who journeys the length of the light In a spiral never ending we are drawn toward the source Spinning at the mercy of an unrelenting force So we stare into the emptiness and fall beneath the weight Circling the Nexus in a fevered dance with fate D.Fogelberg Qua da di

Walkin On The Sun It ain't no joke I'd like to buy the world a toke And teach the world to sing in perfect harmony And teach the world to snuff the fires and the liars Hey I know it's just a song but it's spice for the recipe This is a love attack I know it went out but it's back It's just like any fad it retracts before impact And just like fashion it's a passion for the with it and hip If you got the goods they'll come and buy it just to stay in the clique So don't delay act now supplies are running out Allow if you're still alive six to eight years to arrive And if you swallow there may be a tomorrow But if the offer's shunned you might as well be walkin' on the sun Twenty-five years ago they spoke out and they broke out Of recession and oppression and together they toked And they folked out with guitars around a bonfire Just singin' and clappin' man what the hell happened Then some were spellbound some were hellbound, some they fell down And some got back up and fought back 'gainst the melt down And their kids were hippie chicks all hypocrites Because fashion is smashin' the true meaning of it So don't delay act now supplies are running out Allow if you're still alive six to eight years to arrive And if you swallow there may be a tomorrow But if the offer's shunned you might as well be walkin' on the sun It ain't no joke when a mama's handkerchief is soaked With her tears because her baby's life has been revoked The bond is broke up so choke up and focus on the close up Mr. Wizard can't perform no godlike hocus-pocus So don't sit back kick back and watch the world get bushwhacked News at ten, your neighborhood is under attack Put away the crack before the crack puts you away You need to be there when your baby's old enough to relate So don't delay act now supplies are running out Allow if you're still alive six to eight years to arrive And if you swallow there may be a tomorrow But if the offer's shunned you might as well be walkin' on the sun Smashmouth |

SG, I only have one Marillion album (I think?) and it is the one with "Incommunicado". But, I definitely "remember" Kayleigh, as well as Lavender. I had a friend back in the mid-eighties who turned me on to Marillion, other than what was being played on PR radio. This person knew I would like their stuff since I was a YES fan, as well as other PR groups. I am not familiar with Fish....unless I have forgotten. Any links? Did you also listen to Camel? I still have the "Snow Goose" album, which is the only one I have. I am not sure if I ever heard any of their other stuff? Thanks for the links! I will try to listen shortly, but at the moment, I am a bit distracted with yet another home-repair crisis...... "In the end, only kindness matters."

Cloudbusting I still dream of Orgonon. I wake up crying. You're making rain, And you're just in reach, When you and sleep escape me. You're like my yo-yo That glowed in the dark. What made it special Made it dangerous, So I bury it And forget. But every time it rains, You're here in my head, Like the sun coming out-- Ooh, I just know that something good is going to happen. I don't know when, But just saying it could even make it happen. On top of the world, Looking over the edge, You could see them coming. You looked too small In their big, black car, To be a threat to the men in power. I hid my yo-yo In the garden. I can't hide you From the government. Oh, God, Daddy-- I won't forget, 'Cause every time it rains, You're here in my head, Like the sun coming out-- Ooh, I just know that something good is going to happen. And I don't know when, But just saying it could even make it happen. The sun's coming out. Your sun's coming out. Kate Bush |

I'll have to do a lookup. Thanks. Nin, Hounds of Love, BEST Kate Bush album evvvvvvver! Personal favorite-Jig of Life. So, is the lead singer of Fish, the same as the lead singer in Marillion? Learning some stuff here..... Their sound (especially Fish) reminds me some of earyly Genesis.....both the singer's voice, and the guitar.....and, well, just the sound, in general. Cloudbursting.....INTERESTING song, indeed! Also SG on that SNL clip of BOC cowbell in memory of..who died?? In My Life There are places I remember all my life, though some have changed Some forever not the better some have gone and some remain All these places have their moments with lovers and friends,I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers there is no one compares with you And these memories lose their meaning when I think of Love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection for people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them in my life I love you more Though I know I'll never lose affection for people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them in my life I love you more In my life , I love you more.......... TLR, Fish went solo as Fish. I think the group you're thinking of is Phish. heh heh, confused yet? Yeah, I love that guitar sound. Buddie, Gene Frankel was just a character made up for the skit, to give it that authentic Behind The Scenes feel. No one from the band has died yet. Love that video SG - Solsbury Hill Peter Gabriel Climbing up on Solsbury Hill I could see the city light Wind was blowing, time stood still Eagle flew out of the night He was something to observe Came in close, I heard a voice Standing stretching every nerve Had to listen had no choice I did not believe the information I just had to trust imagination My heart going boom boom boom Son - he said - Grab your things, I've come to take you home. To keep in silence I resigned My friends would think I was a nut Turning water into wine Open doors would soon be shut So I went from day to day Thought my life was in a rut "Till I thought of what I'd say Which connection I should cut I was feeling part of the scenery I walked right out of the machinery My heart going boom boom boom Hey - he said - Grab your things I've come to take you home. Back home. When illusion spin her net I'm never where I want to be And liberty she pirouette When I think that I am free Watched by empty silhouettes Who close their eyes but still can see No one taught them etiquette I will show another me Today I don't need a replacement I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant My heart going boom boom boom Hey - I said - You can keep my things, they've come to take me home Santa is God and Foozball is the devil.

TLR, sorry for the confusion. Yeah those videos are of Marillion. I think the confusion comes from my comments about the fish era. He left after Clutching at Straws and now they have a fellow by the name of Steve Hogarth (H). Nin....er gorgon...er...the woman with snakes in her hair... Did you notice the extended version of the song for that video? Threw me off at first. So ladies, fish and gentlemen Here’s my angled dream See me in the blue sky bag And meet me by the sea

Hehehehe, Buddie. I celebrated the Solstice by playing DnD with my partner and his kid. We fought off goblins, befriended an elf and peeing off a kobold by not returning his magic stuff to him after freeing him from prison. At the actual Solstice moment, my partner and I went out onto the balcony for a few minutes. We were treated to a smiley-face cloud and a shooting star. A very happy evening. I like that one buddie - I Feel Pretty MARIA I feel pretty Oh so pretty I feel pretty and witty and gay And I pity Any girl who isn't me today I feel charming Oh so charming It's alarming how charming I feel And so pretty That I hardly can believe I'm real See the pretty girl in that mirror there? Who can that attractive girl be? Such a pretty face Such a pretty dress Such a pretty smile Such a pretty me! I feel stunning And entrancing Feel like running And dancing for joy For I'm loved By a pretty wonderful boy GIRLS Have you met my good friend Maria The craziest girl on the block? You'll know her the minute you see her She's the one who is in an advanced state of shock She thinks she's in love She thinks she's in Spain She isn't in love She's merely insane It must be the heat Or some rare disease Or too much to eat Or maybe it's fleas Keep away from her Send for Chino This is not the Maria we know Modest and pure Polite and refined Well-bred and mature And out of her mind! Miss America, Miss America, speech! Miss America, bravo, speech! MARIA I feel pretty Oh so pretty That the city should give me its key A committee Should be organized to honour me I feel dizzy I feel sunny I feel fizzy and funny and fine And so pretty Miss America can just resign See the pretty girl in that mirror there (What mirror, where?) Who can that attractive girl be? (Which, what, where, whom?) Such a pretty face Such a pretty dress Such a pretty smile Such a pretty me! MARIA & GIRLS I feel stunning And entrancing Feel like running and dancing for joy For I'm loved By a pretty wonderful boy Music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Freaks (derek dick, mark kelly, steve rothery, peter trewavas, ian mosley) Have you ever met a lady, screaming angst potential? Have you ever dreamed of romance, no matter how experimental? Have you ever felt an alien drifting back into your hometown? Did you think you were buying safety when you bought that piece of ground? She said all the best freaks are here She said all the best freaks are here, please stop staring at me So I said all the best freaks are here All the best freaks are here, please stop staring at me Have you ever woke up, sweating in the middle of the night? You search the darkness and you’re scrambling for the light Have you ever walked down the street, heard bootsteps following you? Don’t worry my son, you’ve got the spook squad looking after you He said all the best freaks are here He said all the best freaks are here, please stop staring at me So I said all the best freaks are here All the best freaks are here, please stop staring at me, stop staring at me Airport terminal, patiently waiting on the last call You feel the eyes burn the back of your head Sign the autograph, get out of the picture, gonna have the last laugh Feel the whispers as you head for the plane Stop staring at me Love and linen sheets seem so very far away You save your pennies and you buy another day But after all it’s only hide and seek, just another game There’s so much fun to be had when you’re living with a name All the best freaks are here, all the best freaks are here Please stop staring at me, all the best freaks are here All the best freaks are here, please stop staring at me Oh, stop staring at me, oh, stop staring at me They said all the best freaks are here All the best freaks are here, please stop staring at me All the best freaks are here All the best freaks are here, please stop staring at me So ladies, fish and gentlemen Here’s my angled dream See me in the blue sky bag And meet me by the sea

Freaking at the Freakers Ball: Dr.Hook Come on babies grease your lips Grab your hats and swing your hips Don't forget to bring your whips Were going to the Freakers Ball Blow your whistle and bang your gong Roll up something to take along It feels so good it must be wrong We're freaking at the freakers ball THe Magdalene Laundries: Joni Mitchell I was an unmarried girl I'd just turned twenty-seven When they sent me to the sisters For the way men looked at me Branded a jezebel I knew I was not bound for heaven I'd been cast in shame Into the Magdalene laundries Most girls come here pregnant Some by their own fathers Bridget got that belly By her parish priest We're trying to get things white as snow All of us woe-begotten-daughters In the streaming stains Of the Magdelene laundries Prostitutes and destitutes And temptresses like me Fallen women Sentenced into dreamless drudgery.. Why do they call this heartless place Our Lady of Charity? Oh charity These bloodless brides of Jesus If they'd just once glimpsed their groom Then they'd know, and they'd drop to stone Concealed behind their rosaries They wilt the grass they walk upon They leech the light out of a room They'd like to drive us down the drain At the Magdalene laundries Peg O'Connell died today She was a cheeky girl A flirt They just stuffed her in a hole Surley to God you'd think At least some bells would toll One day I'm going to die here too And they'll plant me in the dirt Like some lame bulb That never blooms come spring Not a spring No,not any spring Not any spring (Message edited by buddie on December 21, 2006) Qua da di

Sarah McLachlan River It’s coming on Christmas They’re cutting down trees They’re putting up reindeer singing songs of joy and peace Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on But it don’t snow here It stays pretty green I’m going to make a lot of money And then I’m going to quit this crazy scene Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on I wish I had a river so long Teach my feet to fly high Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on I made my baby cry He tried hard to help me You know, he put me at ease And he loved me so naughty Made me weak in the knees Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on But I’m so hard to handle I’m selfish and I’m sad Now I gone and lost the best baby that I’ve ever had Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on Oh I wish I had a river so long I would teach my feet to fly high Oh I wish I had a river That I could skate away on I made my baby say goodbye It’s coming on Christmas They’re cutting down trees They’re putting up reindeer singing songs of joy and peace Oh I wish I had a river I could skate away on "No Guru, no method, no teacher, Just you and I and nature"- Van Morrison

Christmas in Prison It was Christmas in prison and the food was real good We had turkey and pistols carved out of wood And I dream of her always even when I don't dream Her names on my tongue and her bloods in my stream CHORUS.. Wait awhile eternity ole' mother natures' got nothing on me Come to me run to me Come to me ,now were rollen' My sweetheart we're flowing By God She reminds me of a chess game with someone I admire Or a picnic in the rain after a prairie fire Her heart is as big as this whole Godamm jail And she's sweeter than saccharine at a drug store sale CHORUS... The search light in the big yard swings round with the gun And spot lights the snowflakes like the dust in the sun It's Christmas in prison there'll be music tonight I'll probably get homesick I Love you Good Night... Oh well in that vein of hurtin music - here's one that's bleeding. "Runaway Love" (feat. Mary J. Blige) [Hook - Mary J. Blige] Runaway love Runaway love Runaway love Runaway love Runaway love Runaway love Runaway love Runaway love [Verse 1 - Ludacris] Now little Lisa is only 9 years old She's trying to figure out why the world is so cold Why she's all alone and ain't neva met her family Mama's always gone and she never met her daddy Part of her is missing and nobody will listen Mama is on drugs getting high up in the kitchen Bringing home men at different hours of the night Starting with some laughs -- usually ending in a fight Sneaking in her room while her mama's knocked out Trying to have his way and little Lisa says 'ouch' She tries to resist but then all he does is beat her Tries to tell her mom but her mama don't believe her Lisa is stuck up in the world on her own Forced to think that hell is a place called home Nothing else to do but get some clothes and pack She says she's 'bout to run away and never come back. [Hook - Mary J. Blige] Runaway love [x8] [Verse 2 - Ludacris] Little Nicole is only 10 years old She's steady trying to figure why the world is so cold Why she's not pretty and nobody seems to like her Alcoholic step-dad always wanna strike her Yells and abuses, leaves her with some bruises Teachers ask questions she making up excuses Bleeding on the inside, crying on the out It's only one girl really knows what she about Her name is lil Stacy and they become friends Promise that they always be tight 'til the end Until one day lil Stacy gets shot A drive by bullet went stray up on her block Now Nicole stuck up in the world on her own Forced to think that hell is a place called home Nothing else to do but get her clothes and pack She says she's 'bout to run away and never come back. [Hook - Mary J. Blige] Runaway love [x8] [Verse 3 - Ludacris] Little Erica is eleven years old She's steady trying to figure why the world is so cold So she pops x to get rid of all the pain 'Cause she's having sex with a boy who's sixteen Emotions run deep and she thinks she's in love So there's no protection he's using no glove Never thinking 'bout the consequences of her actions Living for today and not tomorrow's satisfaction The days go by and her belly gets big The father bails out he ain't ready for a kid Knowing her mama will blow it all outta proportion Plus she lives poor so no money for abortion Erica is stuck up in the world on her own Forced to think that hell is a place called home Nothing else to do but get her clothes and pack She say she's about to run away and never come back. [Hook - Mary J. Blige] Runaway love [repeats 'til end] Santa is God and Foozball is the devil.

You gotta hear Concrete Blonde do this one - It's a Man's World Man made the cars To take us over the road Man made the trains To carry his manmade load Man has made everything That he possibly can He's busy making money To buy from other men It's a man's, man's, man's, man's world But it wouldn't be nothing Without a woman or a girl Man made the electric light To take us out of the dark Man made the boats on the water They say Noah made the Ark You man have made everything That you possibly can You're so busy making money To buy from other men It's a man's, man's, man's, man's world But it wouldn't be nothing Without a woman or a girl Lost Well, he's lost In his wilderness Well, he's lost Lost in his bitterness It's a man's, man's, man's, man's world But it wouldn't be nothing Without a woman or a girl Man said he love the little bitty baby girls And the little bitty baby boys Tries so hard to make them happy With his manmade toys Man's making everything That he possibly can Busy making his almighty money To buy from other men It's a man's, man's, man's, man's world But it wouldn't be nothing Without a woman or a girl Santa is God and Foozball is the devil. Speed of Sound How long before I get in Before it stops before I begin How long before you decide or Before I know what it feels like Where to, where do I go? If you never try then you'll never know How long do I have to climb Up on the side of this mountain of mine Look up, I look up at night Planets are moving at the speed of light, Climb up, up in the trees Every chance that you get is a chance you seize How long am I gonna stand With my head stuck under the sand I'll start before I can stop or Before I see things the right way up All that noise and all that sound All those places I got found And birds go flying at the speed of sound To show you how it all began Birds came flying from the underground If you could see it then you'd understand Ideas that you'll never find All the inventors could never design The buildings that you put up Japan and China all lit up The sign that I couldn't read or a light, that I couldn't see Some things you have to believe While others are puzzles, puzzling me All that noise and all that sound All those places I got found And birds go flying at the speed of sound To show you how it all began Birds came flying from the underground If you could see it then you'd understand Oh, when you see it then you'll understand All those signs I knew what they meant, some things you can invent Some get made and some get sent ooh And birds go flying at the speed of sound To show you how it all began Birds came flying from the underground If you could see it then you'd understand Oh, when you see it then you'll understand Coldplay "If I've made a mistake, do you think God will make a mistake? God will take care of things." - - Padre Pio - "I'm a mystery to myself"

I love Coldplay.. Every Grain of Sand.. In the time of my confession in the hour of my deepest need When the pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed There's a dying voice within me reaching out somewhere Toiling in the danger and in the morals of despair. Don't have the inclination to look back on any mistake Like cain I now behold this chain of events that I must break In the fury of the moment I can see the masters hand In every leaf that trembles in every grain of sand Oh the flowers of indulgence and the weeds of yesteryear Like criminals they choked the breath of conscience and good cheer The sun beat down upon the steps of time to light the way To ease the pain of idleness and memory of decay. I gaze into the doorway of temptation's angry flame And every time I pass that way I always hear my name Then onward in my journey I come to understand that everyhair is numbered Like every grain of sand I have gone from rags to riches in the sorrow of the night In the violence of a summers dream in the chill of a wintry light In the bitter dance of loneliness fading into space In the broken mirror of innocence on each forgotten face I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea Sometimes I turn theres someone there other times it's only me I am hanging in the balance of the reality of man Like every sparrow falling like every every grain of sand. B.Dylan/Emmylou Harris Qua da di
