Patricia says, Mark, stop scaring the kiddies and dig up some spooky music...can't boogy without music! Well, my choice would be "Night on Bald Mountain" by Mussorgsky / Pictures At An Exhibition...but otherwise, I found this one at Google listed under "Kids' Songs", oddly enough. Dry Bones lyrics Ezekiel cried, "Dem dry bones!" Ezekiel cried, "Dem dry bones!" Ezekiel cried, "Dem dry bones!" "Oh, hear the word of the Lord." The foot bone connected to the leg bone, The leg bone connected to the knee bone, The knee bone connected to the thigh bone, The thigh bone connected to the back bone, The back bone connected to the neck bone, The neck bone connected to the head bone, Oh, hear the word of the Lord! Dem bones, dem bones gonna walk aroun', Dem bones, dem bones, gonna walk aroun' Dem bones, dem bones, gonna walk aroun' Oh, hear the word of the Lord. The head bone connected to the neck bone, The neck bone connected to the back bone, The back bone connected to the thigh bone, The thigh bone connected to the knee bone, The knee bone connected to the leg bone, The leg bone connected to the foot bone, Oh, hear the word of the Lord! |

OMG--I was standing at the stove cooking up my first pot of beef veggie soup of the season this afternoon and that Monster Mash song was running through my head! *LOL* (I have a sneaky suspicion that that dates us, susi, but what the hay ) Here, I'm passing out the goodies tonight, since The Skeptic had most of his wisdom teeth pulled this AM. Usually he really enjoys doing it, but not this year (*OUCH*!)! He didn't even feel up to carving a pumpkin (first time ever, I think) so I'll put out a cool big gray squash that's been taking up space on my counter for a couple of months and stick a candle to its top, instead. It's pumpkin-shaped and sized, fortunately. Kind of an eerie color, too, now that I think of it.... "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." Walk in with a big bag of 3 Muskateers bite size. What you do is order black hot coffee then drop in little 3 Muskateers candy in and let it melt. Wanna' hear "Night on Bald Mountain" Another good one is Chopin's Funeral March (Sonata Op.35 # 2) Hope ya'll have buttered popcorn to take the sweet taste out. mMm popcorn. Peanut butter cups. Tootsie rolls and little boxes of dots. Yummmmm. Gotta dance some of this off. Anybody remember the mashed potato? Good to do to the Monster Mash! I saw a really hot pirate down the street,, and a very cool seventies type dude. They might be coming this way-I get first dance with the pirate! The Mashed Potatoes is one of the very first dances I learned--! I loved it because I didn't have to memorize steps and hand movement stuff (that was back when line dances were popular) kathy, you're doin' better than I am. The cutest guy I've had at my door all evening was a 6-yr-old in a Superman costume, with his dark hair slicked down and an adorable little "spit curl" on his forehead "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross." Nice to see someone else hanging out here at Sal's! It's been very quiet for a spell, but I like to come here to read when it's like that--Sal keeps the hot cups of tea coming and there's all that nice condensation on the front diner windows, so that the world outside is all nice and blurry. Winter is best experienced from inside a warm restaurant, methinks When I read those lyrics above, the words "...and ignite your bones" brought back a flash of memory...I'll have to explore it. Glad you've kept the thread alive, buddie. Looks like everybody is getting bogged down already with all the preparations for the holiday season, starting with Thanksgiving. I've been staying away because I don't want to pull folks down to where I am. Big time downer going on. The pain doc is beginning to look like a quack. Too long to go into here, and too depressing for me. He gave me a few days of hope and now seems to have retracted it. So, cheer me up, guys, and tell me some good stuff that's going on in your lives. I seem to be living vicariously these days - but vicarious is better than nothing I guess. Here's to happy Thanksgiving, no matter how you celebrate it. Sal, please bring me some great comfort food - the best, tastiest, most outrageous thing you can think of. I'm too tired to think. Hugs to all. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ No good deed goes unpunished. ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

[passes a glass of hot mulled hard cider down the lunch counter] SO sorry to hear about the quack--there should be a law against raising the hopes of people living with pain! I'm in my usual pre-Turkey Day cleaning frenzy, so I'm not here as much. Got to make this place look like it's a human habitation for at least tomorrow, when the company comes for din-din Sal, I'll have a big plate of garlic mashed potatoes with gravy, please--comfort food time here, too! L. A. B. *is* tall--! We were both at a sci-fi convention many years ago and I remember her from that--she was tall and slim and had put together a great Tom Baker/Dr. Who costume. Sal, I'd love a nice hot herbal tea--it's raining and cold here and I need my insides warmed up before I get ready for bed. "When power depends upon lies, then truth is made a fugitive" - me, 2006

Hope you guys get your e-mails straightened out. The internet is so wonderful, but is also a place to get very frustrated. I'm so lucky to be able to be online, yet sometimes the aggravation makes me crazy. Gotta start the entire process of finding help with my pain issues today. Calls, calls and more calls to make. EGADS. Give me energy or give me death! Pain is such an energy sapper. Hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving. Needless to say, I did not do the shoppig thing on Black Friday. Now the countdown to X-mas ... You won't believe this, but we have a peacock running (flying?) loose in our neighborhood. A beautiful creature with a full tail and silvery blue and green neck with the top-knot on the head. Was on my way to pick up my new eyeglasses and there he was in our neighbor's front yard eating worms, bugs, seeds or whatever they eat out of the grass. Couldn't believe my eyes. Told my husband about it when I got home and he said I must be hallucinating! Then, about 10:30am Sunday morning, husb tell me there is a peacock in OUR front yard. "Now who's hallucinating" ask I. I hope nobody hurts him (the peacock - husb can take care of himself!). Neat, huh? Need some nice raspberry cheesecake, Sal. The grub here is terrific. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ No good deed goes unpunished. ~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Peacocks are cool, but try not to have a heart attack if the bird lets out one of their astoundingly loud "squawks" at dusk. No kidding, it sounds like something straight from the depths of hell! I've heard that directors of horror movies have recorded and used them for monsters' calls in their films--! But they sure are purty Sal, I'll have a truffled omelet and a double espresso--got errands to run and it's chilly and I'm dragging my feet shamelessly "When power depends upon lies, then truth is made a fugitive" - me, 2006

[Hands Mama Shine a stuffed gargoyle] Here--I think this calls for some serious scaring away of bad juju and this little gargoyle is just the protector you're looking for. In other realms, he's 12 ft. tall and has fangs, but here, he's just a huggable little gray fuzzball who will cuddle with you happily all night long. Oooh, *shortbread* ! YUM. I think I'd like a hot chocolate again, Sal. And pour a few extra--looks like a shivery cold night out and you may get a bunch of half-frozen customers that need to be thawed out. I'll lay a fire in the fireplace and we can kick back and tell ghost stories (while hugging stuffies, of course!). "When power depends upon lies, then truth is made a fugitive" - me, 2006

The Moon has been simply awesome the past couple of nights, hasn't it?! I got back from running errands yesterday just after Moonrise and could hardly take my eyes off the sky. I've always talked to the Moon too, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if she passed on a wee message to me And that tomato soup, grilled cheese and milk combo sounds good. Walks in --so quiet--looks for her Grayfuzz stuffie. There he is ((hugs)). So dadgum quiet ib here. Orders a piece of pumpkin pie with Cool Whip and asks if Sal has hot apple cider. Wishes Pat would start a fire. Wishes Buddie would get her kitties and it's so quiet in here. Still don't have any furniture, just a computer desk, bed frame and mattress..the rest yard furniture here and there. Works at a standstill for us cause he is over in New Orleans helping his mother. The deadline for folks to be out of the FEMA trailers is March. That ain't far off. Put up a Christmas tree--few new ornaments . Storm took years of old victorian ornaments, boxes and boxes that I felt were too precious to put in the attic so I kept them under my bed. Don't have any decent clothes , just Walmart jeans and shirts. What the heck, I don't go anywhere anyhoo. Hugs Grayfuzz, what a nice stuffie, thanks Patricia. Sips apple cider and hums Blue Christmas. Like a bolt out of the blue, Fate steps in and sees you through.....

We got ourselves, mama, and we look darn good in those walmart t-shirts, if I do say so myself! i have no kitchen walls yet, and my stove isn't hooked up, but I have a shower now so i said goodbye to that old trailer. want some truffles with that pumpkin pie/ Chocolate seems to make things a little better. i told my neighbor how I used to love my daughter's band concerts when she was in school, so he came down Monday and invited us to his daughter's christmas concert. It was so nice! The fire is so nice and cozy! We will all be Ok-we have each other.these times are hard, but we will get through them somehow, everyone is facing their own personal armegeddon. Hey, y'all! Hearing about what you two are *still* going through was just what I needed this AM, Mama Shine and kathy--I was whining about all the last-minute packing and shipping of gifts back east to the family, but compared to what you guys are putting up with, it's nothing at all! [puts quarters in the jukebox and starts Josh Groban's new album playing--"When She Dances" is my new favorite song --and starts laying a fire in the fireplace] Here's hoping all our north-west friends get their power back on today. What a storm that must have been! Sal, I need some comfort food before I wrestle those boxes to the UPS store in the rain--how about some scrambled eggs, chicken-apple sausage and sliced tomatoes and a big cup of coffee with steamed milk? yum sounds good-I'll have the same. Tonite i put on my best Christmas lights, put out cheese and crackers and fruit and cookies, and invited my neighbors over. they brought wine and we drank and ate like fiends. listened to carols and talked, played with the kitties and exchanged cards. it was nice, if not for good neighbors I would be sad. Life is good. Still haven't shopped, tho. Yikes! Humans believe they are devils pretending to be angels when, in fact, the reverse is true.

And like a good neighbor, Kathy is there. Sal, I'd like club sandwich and a cup of coffee.Be sure to put those toothpicks in the sandwiches so I can pick the bacon out of my teeth. Like a bolt out of the blue, Fate steps in and sees you through.....
