Just around 10 p.m. Friday night (tonight), I decided to turn off the TV coverage of the storms, and seek some respite/refuge in watering my yard, by hand, with a water hose. I have always found this activity to be very calming.
So, I was out in my front yard.......
I had not been out there 30 mins, when suddenly, there was the horrible sound of a horrible car crash.
I cannot tell you how horrific the sound was!!
It was immediately followed by at least 5 seconds of screeching tires.
Again, I don't even know how to describe the sound of the crash. It was so loud, that I could not believe that people were not coming out of their homes to see what had happened.
I could tell by the sound that it was less than 2 blocks away. I could definitely tell where it was coming from, at least, within a few hundred feet.
It was almost exactly 5 minutes before I heard the first emergency sirens.....which is frustrating, given that there is a firehouse less than a mile away, and the hospital is less than 3 miles away. I hears a second set of sirens about 3 mins. later.
It was all I could do do not lose it. I was praying out loud for anyone involved...........anyone who might have heard me, might have thought I had lost my mind.
I will, of course, check the local news sources later today, to see if I can find out what happened. It is my prayer that the sound was much worse than the actual event........]

Allen and Mama, I am so glad you both enjoyed the Keith pieces.
I am a jazz lover from childhood, truly from about age 5.
I love nearly all kinds of Jazz....but Keith Jarrett does something to me, more than almost any other jazz artist.
I have spent hours watching his vids, and it's hard to say which I like more, the ones of him performing, or the ones with all the amazing art slide shows! (What I wouldn't give to see all of that artwork in person!)

I have to ask myself to be open to the Yes vid, because I am too much of a "purist" at times....(do you know what I mean by that about Yes?).....but I enjoyed it so much.

Over the last several days, I have compiled a long list of vids to post to you two, but I decided to start with the following.....
I want to share something amazing with you people, who have both a deep appreciation for amazing, profound music, as well as a joyous love of nature and all it's beauty.......and how the two can so often go together.
If I were to create a video to try to share with you an experience I had back in 1978, while travelling through this incredible part of Texas, while listening to this Pink Floyd album on the car stereo........I could not create it any better that this.
I will link 2 vids below.
OK, to get the full effect........
1. Start the first video (either in a tab or in a nother window)...and immediately PAUSE it, and MUTE the sound. This vid is for the visuals only.
2. Then start the second vid (in another tab or another window) for the sound only.
3. Once you have the sound going from vid 2, go immediately back to the first vid and watch it without it's sound, while listening to the music from vid one.......
In other words you will be watching the images from Vid one, with the sound muted, while listening to the music from vid 2.

Allen, just one comment for now about all the vids you posted since #3319....
I had completely forgotten about Big Head Todd & The Monsters!!!!!
Too long to explain how I managed to forget about them.....
But I have now watched the ENTIRE Red Rocks concert.
I have a special memory of Red Rocks.
Unfortunately, I never got to see concert there.
But I did get to go to the venue (not during a concert), and got to see the graffiti on the stone walls, both to and from The Beatles.........
    
I'm grateful........that I got to see Beatles' graffiti, and that I got to see the amazing venue, and stand on the same stage as The Beatles, ......
and I'm grateful that you turned me on to BHT&TM at Red Rocks................
Absolute KILLER Band, and a concert so good that I will have to order the DVD, if I can.....

I tried ...opened a new tab after
muting the scenic drive. Only problem
was the muted stayed for Shine On. So I had to listen to each separately. The Shine on was so beautiful...I love the sound on that one, its a favorite song of mine. I took the drive with the music behind it muted cause the music got on my nerves...don't know why...just wasn't my type sound. I did enjoy the drive with the Crazy Diamond still in my head. I hold music that way pretty good. Thank you for the trip mah deah.

I did not like the music that went with the vid of the drive through the mountains.
I was trying to give you a taste of what it was like for me the first time I made that drive, while listening to the Pink Floyd piece.

Sw, I grew up in the Bay Area (born in Oakland) and used to go into the City every weekend to see live music at The Avalon Ballroom, Filmore, Winterland or what ever club the the best lineup that week. In the early sixties FM radio started to become the "next big thing" and there was an FM station out of San Francisco, KMPX, that set the standard for the new wave of music. KMPX morphed into KSAN, which became very popular. So popular in fact that it was bought by some conglomerate and eventually changed it's format. But along came KFOG. Many of the DJ's from KSAN jumped on to the new station. Now KFOG is a shadow of it's former self, but they still have remnants of their hippie days as part of the programming. One of these is called the KFOD Local Scene. The local scene is a cd put together by the station staff of local artists.There is also an annual cd issued called "LIve from the archives". It is from one of these cd's and from listening to KFOG from time to time on my computer that I first heard Luce. I wander all over the net discovering music. I also remember so many groups that I saw live through the sixties. I was so lucky to be situated where I was, to have access to an expanding universe of 'new' music back in the day.
There is also this sort of weird thing that goes on with me and music, but that is something I don't really understand and am at a loss to explain at the moment.

Thank you Mama Shine. That was very nice. I have always been a big Jeff Beck fan. I saw his band on their first tour of the USA back in the day. They had this scrawny lead singer, Rod Stewart, and were palying rock and roll. The audience wasn't jumping to the sound so they switched to the blues (Ain't Superstious) and the place went wild.
