and its not just "over there" that we arent being told about . . . however, i am hopeful that in the best of all possible worlds, people all over the world are praying to assimilate the radioactivity back to source and intending a cleansing of the earth, air, water, and soil over in Japan (and around the world) and the worst circumstances/scenarios are eliminated from the collective worlds we live in at this time. (huh? wha'd she say?) sorry, my brain cant make it clearer today. i hope it makes some sense . . . also, in the best of all possible worlds, people are moving away from nuclear power -- its cost is considered to be too great -- in health, living things, and the integrity of the eco-system. Anyone else see solar panels in the aura of the surfing Lady of Guadalupe in Encinitas? http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=pa.103141579775293#!/photo.php?fbid=10314 1756441942&set=a.103141753108609.6655.103141579775293&type=1&theater We are the ones we've been waiting for. How terribly sad to read of such things. Thanks for the post. All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.” (author unknown)

I found this informative for us living in So Cal. But, one day it shall happen. Scientists Say California Mega-Quake Imminent by Becky Kellogg , on Jun 27, 2011 11:57 am ET Like a steaming kettle with the top on, pressure is building beneath the surface of California that could unleash a monster earthquake at any time. That's according to a new study from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography. Geologists say Southern California is long overdue for a huge earthquake that could unleash widespread damage. It all comes down to the Salton Sea, which lies to the east of San Diego. The Salton Sea lies directly on the San Andreas Fault and covers more than 350 square miles. A big earthquake has hit the lake bed about every 180 years. But when officials started damming the Colorado River to reduce floods downstream (including in the Salton Sea), the moderate earthquakes stopped for the Salton. Sounds like a good thing, right? Not necessarily. Seismologists think the damming stopped moderate stress-relieving earthquakes on the Salton. Now, they fear the pressure is building and the area could be as many as 100 years overdue for a mega-quake quake, measuring 7.5 or larger. This sobering news comes just as a new poll is released that details Californians fears about earthquakes and other natural disasters. http://wwworigin.weather.com/outlook/weather-news/news/articles/california-quake -study_2011-06-27 } "Fear is the Thief of Dreams" ~ God is within you; not separate from you!

Virginia quake is now estimated at 5.9. I was sitting at my computer in my basement when I felt it. I headed quickly toward the stairs to go up and get outside if necessary, just as my two cats were dashing down the stairs to hide as they do during severe thunderstorms. They were too fast for me to catch them. One of them looked at me as we passed with an expression like, "What the ---k is happening?" It's already been nearly an hour, but my feet are still tingling. |

Lots of phones here in Baltimore and in D.C. are still not working, both land lines and cell phones. Local emergency management folks are asking us to stay off our phones except for emergencies. "Cell towers were quickly overwhelmed," said a county executive a few minutes ago on local news. Some brick walls and chimneys have fallen, some roofs have collapsed, some water pipes have broken, and people are reporting that stuff has fallen off walls and shelves. But so far there doesn't seem to be any catastrophic damage or injury. Baltimore subway, metro and light rail service were temporarily suspended but have now been resumed. The MARC train, the major commuter train in the area that connects us to Washington, D.C., was suspended, but they're hoping to get it running again soon. Amtrak is "checking rail line infrastructure." There are a lot of workers trying to get home. Many offices, schools and businesses have closed so people can go home and check on their families and their homes, and also because everyone's still rather emotionally shaken up. Local TV stations have been doing continuous quake coverage since soon after the event. Apparently Public Works just figured out they need to check the bridges! "Earthquake training has now been added officially to the manual," says the county executive, after he and the news anchors were saying how no one around here ever thinks we'll get earthquakes here, so there's no official planning for what to do after one. Local news folks are now getting experts to give advice on what to do during and after an earthquake. Apparently some folks incorrectly thought they should head for the basement, as is advised during other emergency events. (Message edited by Sara on August 23, 2011) |

A weird day for earthquakes in the U.S., but that's, um, normal Los Angeles Times August 24, 2011 | 4:00 am Lost in the hullabaloo about the 5.8 quake in Virginia on Tuesday was the fact that there were about 90 other earthquakes across the United States that same day, including a 5.3 quake in Colorado. Of course, only a few of those were detectable by people, and only 12 were above a 3.0 magnitude. In other words, it was a typical seismologic day -- in terms of sheer numbers of tremors -- in the United States; what was slightly out of the ordinary was the magnitude and location of the earthquakes, said Rafael Abreu, a U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist, in an interview with The Times. Virginia's earthquake was of rare strength for the area. Colorado's quake was one of nine earthquakes in that state on Tuesday, including the 5.3 jolt about 7 miles from Cokedale. Not to be forgotten: Upstate New York was shaken a bit by a 2.2 quake early Tuesday near Altamont. Jones, Okla., got a 2.8 jolt. And Alaska -- well, Alaska gets a few earthquakes just about every day. But not to worry, most of the earthquakes were unrelated -- not a part of some grander doomsday equation. "The fact that they occurred together is purely a coincidence," Abreu said. The fact that upstate New York's shake occurred only hours before Virginia's doesn't mean the events are connected. "There is no geological relation," Abreu said. As for Colorado, it's been having a rash of quakes over the past few days; on Monday, the state was hit with a 4.6 quake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. But all in all, it still made for an unusual day at work for Abreu. "It was a strange day," he said. "But Mother Nature teaches us something new every single day." |

About a minute later the quake hit but just pictures shaking and kitchen cupboards opening. Our life is determined by the choices we make!

I definitely felt it here (W.Va.) although as is typical we (W.Va.) get left out of the national media lol I was sitting in bed half dozed off and felt the whole place rattle for a good five to ten seconds and kept thinking "is the washing machine on? i dont hear it? oh well maybe im just psycho"....then an hour later my dad calling asking if i felt "the earthquake"...to which i said something along the lines of "what?...bullsh*t...oh yeah, i think i do remember something like that...lol" here's a thought... is it a co-incidence that during the same general time period you have the first nearly sizable earthquake in these parts in like 100 years AND one of the potentially biggest hurricanes around these parts in nearly the same amount of time? weird stuff ================================ http://www.facebook.com/fortwynt http://www.youtube.com/fortwynt ================================

is it a co-incidence that during the same general time period you have the first nearly sizable earthquake in these parts in like 100 years AND one of the potentially biggest hurricanes around these parts in nearly the same amount of time? Given that the causes are completely separate, then yes, a coincidence. |

well the obvious observable "cause" may indeed seem separate, but i'd say we are still a long way away from understanding the actual connections between these types of events...as i feel there are those, somehow....the earth being a living system, no different from any other system in physics, where small seemingly inconsequential movements and changes way over here can produce wildly opposite types of situations way over there. ================================ http://www.facebook.com/fortwynt http://www.youtube.com/fortwynt ================================

The causes don't "seem" separate. They are separate. You're creating a mystery where none exists. Meanwhile, a great site for live updates on Irene is here: http://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/content/hurricane-irene-latest-news |

Geoff, will respect, you don't KNOW if they are separate, you just THINK they are! I had the same thought, Fort! Even if the earthquake had nothing to do with the hurricane... it was definitely a fortuitous coincidence! It 'shook' people up to the necessity of being prepared. Most people do nothing until something bad happens! Our life is determined by the choices we make!

So you then flatly feel there could be no.connection between two events such as these? Earthquakes are massively studied but still very much not understood....hurricanes maybe morsel but that is only due to their beginnings being more observable....what it massive pressures are built up deep within the earth in some faraway place and when released create atmospheric disturbances resulting in the production of a hurricane?...just musing of course but still possible I.think...its not that far out really....an infection in a tooth is now known to be.capable of producing a heartattack....at least the dentists will tell you so.....such is the case with.the earth I would imagine....it being a living being essentially itself. ================================ http://www.facebook.com/fortwynt http://www.youtube.com/fortwynt ================================

i believe earthquakes are the result of tutonic plates moving and the pressure of underwater volcanos and affected by the moon and sun spots. i believe hurricanes are the result of warm water and barometric pressure and atmosphere. perhaps..........on a rare occasion, one can effect the other but for the most part and think the causes are seperate. sure you can trust the government....just ask an indian.
